AFAICR, Bump maps should plug into the Bump channel, as opposed to the Gradient Bump channel. They also need to be reduced in strength quite a lot, too. A bump strength of 1 in P4 should be .1 in P5.

First, make sure you have MPE 3.1.3 beta 3. Then read the Tutorial called "Configuring MAT Pose Edit 3", especially the part about bump strength. I admit that it's not that great a tutorial but I tried my best. If you're loading and saving the files one by one, make sure that you choose Poser 5 format in the Save Options. If you're using the batch converter you don't have to worry about that.

Oh, here's the URL where you can find the latest version of MPE and the tutorial. I've got a question too: do the P4 MATs use .BUM or some other (like JPEG) bump maps? If they link to .BUM files then MPE will plug the bump maps to the Gradient Bump channel and won't change the bump strength. But if the bump map is in any other format it will be plugged to the Bump channel and the bump strength will be adjusted for P5.This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience.
