Hi Cornel, The composition seems fine to me. As it stands, for your second picture, I think it's pretty amazing in terms of textures. In terms of depth, I think it's pretty spot-on. The only issue is with the models themselves. Being all from freebies, there seems to a lack of style. I would perhaps suggest looking into some 3D modelling programs (Wings3D, www.wings3D.com). You'll find tutorials here and in other places, as well as find that it's the perfect complimentary program to Bryce itself. All the best, don't hesitate to ask more questions on the forum :) (apropo, esti roman?) Mihnea
How you know I was romanian? Hmmm, must be the name. Yes I am. Thankx for the info. I know I only added freebies from the net, but that is all I have for now. I am thinking about making my own objects, but that will take me some time. I got 3d Studio Max at work, but that thing is a pain. So many properties, its just impossible to learn them all, lol. Thank You... Multumesc...
" got 3d Studio Max at work, but that thing is a pain. So many properties, its just impossible to learn them all, lol." That's the beauty of Wings - you get the options you need just by right-clicking, so the whole screen isn't full of tools and options that you don't understand and scare the life out of you!! It's by far the easiest modelling program round (in my opinion!) and FREE as well.
Cornelp: It takes one to know one. (Draculaz is Romanian, also). :^) Welcome to Bryce, welcome to the Forum. Using freebies is an OK way to go while you're learning to use Bryce, size things, texture, move things around, etc. You can start to model when and if you feel ready. Some of us never build models outside of Bryce, using Bryce primitives and terrains, lattices, etc. and that's OK, too. And if you find a good freebie that suits your purposes and would take forever to create by hand, there's nothing wrong with that either, it's up to the individual. John

Hmmm, I'd say... A, there should be some distortion on the water, and lack of 100% reflection. The elements of the scene, or rather, one element in particular do not exactly flow. (the truck) It seems completely out of place and time. So unless the subject of thei mage is the truck with a theme along the lines of 'out of place, out of time' then I'd say off with it. The texturing seems spot on, except the foot bridge.. don't know why but the boards look reflective. Maybe go with an older look and add some vegetation where it meets the ground. as opposed to infront of where it meets the ground. Play with the sky a little bit. I think this image would do better with a more peach-ish or orange-ish sky and slightly darker look with a lighting element by the light house.
Ornlu, Thank You. That's what I was looking for. Since I get rid of the truck, maybe remove the long bridge as well, I am thinking. Thankx Ornlu. TJohn, thankx buddy. I see a lot of freebies out there that I can use and would just take TOOOO long to make myself. I am doing this cause I want to come up with a nice picture to put on my wall. I can print a HUGE poster size picture and frame it. While I can just take a picture off the net that looks really nice, it just would not be the same as if I made my own. I see a lot of nice pictures here by you guys, but hopefully one day I will get there. DraculaZ, nice pic gallery you got there. I see I got lots to go and learn. Thankx guys, nice and good help here. THANK YOU ALL... Maybe I will post the final ver later this week to see if the changes made the picture better.

wow..two Romanians walk into a forum and..;) not bad pic at all..you might try some foliage, that can help set the scale. Looks better than my 2nd pic (don't worry, I won't repost it..the Jetsons pic, if'n I remember..;)Where to begin..first, go through freebies here, look under Bryce, and get mats (lunariad.com, Wolfie's den, pixel wonder, etc), skies, objects, etc., which will help you fill up that endless horizon that Bryce gives everyone..
Check the FAQ up at the top, and it should point you to some (1,200 or so) good links (every few months I redo my list..I'm up to a couple hundred sites..now how many are still there..hang tite..try this one first, it's got most of the ones I have, and a few others besides..there's a bunch of tutorials (DAZ3d has a lot of the best ones), there's always things to learn. Heck, I've had Bryce for 2 years, and you'd never know it..;)
Finally, hang around here, and learn from the masters..and the smart alecks as well..have fun..
PS, the link above isn't to my links, I think Trekkie Grrrl has most of mine listed..still, there's enough to get you in trouble..;)

pogmahone: the Wings Program is pretty good. I took a look and looks very interesting. I will play with it later.
Thankx Everyone for you help...
Anyone know of a nice tutorial on how to make that white foam around the edges of a terrain where the water meets with the ground?I tried volumes, but just did not look right. Maybe I did not do it right. I tried to look for some tutorials for that, but could not find any that explained properly (or maybe I did not understand). Maybe someone might know a place. Thankx All.
Shrink the boat, make the gazeebo/summerhouse thing bigger, ignore anyone who tries to get you to use Wings3d..... ...and welcome to the Asylum...... Great pic! In just 2 attempts you've improved it 100%....Keep up the good work......

Are you using one terrain or multiple? One very handy trick is to duplicate the terrain, widen/lengthen it just a little and reduce its height by 50 to 60%. Then displace it down with respect to the first terrain so that it forms a shore line. Change the mat appropriately to stones or sand/mud. An excellent start overall.
Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!
Servus cornelp! Numele meum esti Ray :) Ce mai faci? (tried some romanian there :P I hope I didn't remember things wrongly from that one romanian lesson I took once :P) You said you think the image looks to flat, you could try to increase a sense of depth you by increasing the ammount of haze :)

I used i think 5 different terrains separated. I copied them and just changed the size and setup the texture accodingly. Incarnadine, thats not a bad idea. I always wandered how they made those nice shores that match with the terrain. I found a REALLY nice website, and the guy made some real master piece pictures with Bryce. I wonder how the heck he got like that. I dont have the link here at home, but I have it at work and I will post it tomorrow if anoyne wants to see it. I really see his pics are master. That is just amazing how he got some of the pics like that. I wonder how he did that with just Bryce and Photoshop. One thing that I am still trying to figure out is how to make the grass allign with the ground quite even. I see in this guy's pics that the grass and plants are like glued to the ground, I cant figure that part out YET (soon hopefully). Rayraz, nici o problema, ai scria-t bine. Sint bine, invat Bryce 3D. Vreau sa fac niste poze FOARTE BUNE sa pun pe perete acasa la mine. Wow, this is the first time I see many romanians in the same forum. LoL. Kewl. Gotta hang around here more often. Thankx Guys...
I'm no romanian, I'm a dutchman, I come from the netherlands, but I learned these lil' sentances in romanian from some romanian friends I have on the net :) Romanian is a cool language, I might try to learn me some more sentances :)

Nice. Since you spoke romanian, I thought you might be, sorry. Anyways, I found that site. You might want to take a look at this guy's pics.
