I checked out the site (thanks, Sittingblue, I'd forgotten the address for those tuts) and didn't have one pop-up. Check your browser or security settings on your machine. I agree those things are annoying - I use Zone Alarm to control them.

There are pop ups on the site but that's a small price to pay for good tuts. (Thanks, sittingblue.)If pop ups annoy you that much try installing SP2 if you're running XP. The new version of IE6 has a built in pop-up blocker.
For a better browsing experience try Avant. It's free (donationware) and uses IE's core libraries so you get all your IE settings and favorites for use straight away. Plus it's faster than IE and sports very efficient pop-up and ad blocking. I

It's possible to configure Avant to open new windows, including pop ups, as tabbed windows in the background, out of sight. When you're done browsing a site with pop ups, shut all open tabs (CTRL + Shift + W) or close the browser. Simple. Result - benefit of tutorials gained, annoyance minimised. :-) Sittingblue's tuts are well worth this small effort.

sittingblue: I allready use one of the none Microsoft browser because the development of Internet Explorer stopped as sone as they reached world domination. However... To contribute to the pollution (popups, spam, spyware, viruses, etc) of the internet is bad maner. If I where visiting your site in order to find the solution on a problem then I might consider it to be worth it but when opening up a page full of popups when visiting just because of an general interest in 3D, Vue, etc.. makes me really upset. And what makes me upset is that for less than $1.5/month you can get web hosting without popups, but rather than paying such a small fee you rather have hundreds of visitors having popups trown at them. The least you could do to show some manner is to warn visitors in advance. Or could it be that you really mean that the pollution of the internet is the visitors problem and that if he/she has problem it's not because people creates popups, spam, spyware, viruses but rather because he/she don't have the correct browser, 'popup killer', 'an updated spyware remover', 'existing and correct setup spamfilters', 'up to date antivirus',and the time to understand and configure them all...
I cannot believe that sittingblue's site is being cirticized because it has pop ups... He's been kind enough to share his knowledge with all of us, and I've definitely learned something from his site, and never thought that any pop up was a problem... If you have a problem with popups, don't visit the site, or take the precautions... It's that simple...
no it's not.... 'I've definitely learned something from his site' So then eveything is ok. Whould you think the same if the site planted spyware in your computer, viruses, uses your email to send spam...what price do you consider to be ok to pay... 'If you have a problem with popups, don't visit the site' That's just my point. If I had known that there should be popups I could have made a choise to not visit the site but as I was not warned in advancer I had no way to know. 'or take the precautions' There is a limit in how much work and time I'm prepared to waste in order for other people to make money. I'm however not against ad sponsored sites if they do it the nice way (such as the add in the top here at renderosity) but when forced to close popups or make other precautions I don't. Popup ads, spam, spyware and virus are considered to be anoying by a mayority of users. And it cost's time and money for both ordinary people and companys. Goverments are reacting to this and planting viruses is illegal. Sending spam is illegal in some countries and more will join. Popup ads is the least problem but still around 70%-80% of the users hates them. Because of this I think it's better to do what's possible in order to minimise popup ad's rather than support the use of them. In real life I prefer that the criminals are behind locks and bars instead of putting myself behind locks and bars in order to be safe.
tradivoro - first I didn't critisize the site, I merely stated it would have been nice to know about the pop ups in advance. I appreciate anyone who is willing to share knowledge, but how difficult it is to get to the knowledge and based on what it is, determines whether or not I feel it's worth it for me to go and get it. And I have a huge problem with pop ups and usually avoid sites with them on there. But in this case, I didn't know about them until after I got there, so how could I have avoided it? I will not buy from pop up ads because I feel that type of advertising is beyond annoying. Spyware is something that has been hurting my company (Fortune 100 company) big time. People are losing days of productivity because they get a pop up when going to a site that they believe they need to access the site. It's not until after that it's on their machine they discover it's spyware. Usually most products you can get rid of, but there have been cases when the machine has had to be wiped and reimaged. So, again, I merely requested that when posting the link a little heads up like, "Oh my site uses pop up ads" would have been nice.
I still say you guys are making a mountain out of a molehill in re: pop up ads at Sittingblue's site... Although I agree that there's a lot of bad stuff on the web, Sittingblue's pop ups are not dangerous, criminal or are going to affect your productivity... I'll tell you this much, after this post, I think everyone knows that sittingblue's site has pop ups... :)

I've come to a conclusion that i don't think it will be possible to make a spiral and use that render for a material for another spiral. so anyways, i was using the scatter and replicate feature and i think it might be possible to use that. i'm having trouble figuring out how to replicate an object (in my case a torus) around and up in a spiral like manner. any pointers on how i can do this.
