Subject: Graphics tablets.... Wacom Intuos?
The graphire is even less than the Intuous. You can probably find it online for less than the list of $100. The Intuos airbrush and stuff won't work with it, though. I bought a Wacom ArtZII 12X12, way too big!! I ended up buying a Graphire, and the old one is sitting in the corner. The Graphire is plenty for all but the serious professional user.
I thought,that you would need to relate the size of the graphics tablet to the size of the final artwork,but finance forced me to purchase a smaller one than I originaly intended.It turns out that was a good move.I have the Wacom Intous 4x5 and its brilliant to work with and I can just pick it up and rest it on my knee or leave it alongside the keyboord without it taking up too much room.If your into "painting" with the computer its like getting a whole new improved version of Photoshop.
I have intuos 4by5 and i like it but before i get a try with Graphire model .I suggest you Graphire one.The mouse coming with Graphire is not so good but the tablet is very good.I recently bought mouse4d for Intuos :the quality is much better than the Graphire one but i am not sure it was a good move for the price ;if i have try mouse4d before i bought ,may be i didn't.

My roommate has a Graphire, I have an Intuos 4x5. Having worked with both, I would have to say that it depends upon your needs. I do fine strokes and washes and such in Photoshop 5.5 and Painter, and Graphire has fewer levels of pressure sensitivity, so it isn't suited to me. Graphire is just fine for working with Poser though. My roommate has Graphire, and he swears by it. Actually, I would like a larger tablet. I used one at my job (I think it was a 6x8), and now that I've quit that job, I really miss using that tablet and CAN tell the difference between it and my 4x5. The huge tablets (12x12, 12x18, etc.) are really meant for engineers, architects, etc. Chaosphaere

I'm thinking about getting a Wacom graphics tablet. I don't want a killer serious one, so I was thinking of getting the 4x5" Intuos. Any thoughts? That one is half the price of the next size up!
