I sent a message to the daz suport 3 weeks ago but.. no reply so I thought I'd ask here..

I got the Antelope Expansion Pak (and the Buck)
http://secure.daz3d.com/shop.php?op=itemdetails&item=305

But some reason the testure map isn't displaying right. Now the Buck's map works fine and displays as it should. But this, along with another deer set I got do this..

I tried to mess with the map cords but, it never changes. Can someone tell me how to make this display right?

Which version of poser do you have?

randym77 ( ) posted Tue, 28 September 2004 at 10:40 AM

It might be using the wrong texture. Poser has the unfortunate habit of grabbing the first texture it finds with the right name. So you may end up with the black Millennium Cat texture applied, when you wanted a black dress texture, if they are both named "black.jpg." Now most people use unique names for the texture maps, so it's not a problem, but the antelope is old enough that they might not have done that.

The way to test if this is the problem is to rename the texture you want to something unique, then apply it manually, and see if it looks right then.

The Antelope Expansion Pack is for the Big Face Buck which is Lyne's remap of the Zygote buck. The bfBuck.obj should have been included with the antelope pack. It appears that you have applied the TommiC.jpg texture to the wrong figure.

Nope the testure IS the right one for that model (I know, I had to add it myself). I dubble checked and everything. That indeed is the right texture and is one that came with the pack. That is also for the right species. But some reason is just is mapping all screwy.

Are you using P5 or P4? If it's P5, can you post a screen shot of your Material Room settings? Do the other textures from the antelope pack work?

RHaseltine ( ) posted Wed, 29 September 2004 at 8:48 AM

If the buck map works then the antelope maps won't and vice-versa - the antelopes use a modified version of the buck mesh, with a different mapping (see post 4 above) so it sounds as if you are, in fact, using the wrong figure for the map.

Shaddex ( ) posted Wed, 29 September 2004 at 10:28 AM

I'm useing P5. The DAZ page says it uses the Daz Buck, but don't requier it. So it should work. But if it is just a modified buck mesh, then what mesh am I to use? The pack didn't come with any other file (I've worked with adding new mesh's to files before, did it when I got Lyne's wolf pack) and the Daz page says "New, stand alone figure based on the DAZ Buck" nothing else.. so.. I don't know whats goiong on..

You CAN'T apply the antelope pack textures to the DAZ Buck - manually or otherwise because they don't fit the buck. They fit the bfBuck (Big Face Buck) not the blBuck (DAZ Buck). The bfBuck geometry is installed with the antelope pack, and there are cr2s for all the antelopes installed into the figure library "DAZ Antelope" folder. Use those cr2s because they properly call the bfBuck geometry. If you want to manually assign one of the Antelope textures you MUST use the BFBuck figure.

Okay that I don't get, I can't FIND the bfBuck, where would the file be located? Cause as soon as I instaled the pack it was already aimed at the Daz Buck.

If you have the Antelope expansion pack from DAZ, then the bfBuck.obj was installed to the proper folder. In addition, there was a NEW figure folder created "DAZ Antelope" which contains the cr2s for all the antelopes. The figures that are for the original buck are in a different library folder called "Zygote Animals" - you can't apply the antelope maps to those. If you use a text editor to examine the cr2s in the "DAZ Antelope" folder you will see that they all correctly call the bfBuck.obj as shown in this screen cap of the cr2 for the Tommie.

Um........... I.... don't have the bfBuck.obj.. O.o I just did a search of my whole HD and no file matching that name came up.. ....now.. I'm totly lost.. it WAS to come with this pack right?! Cause after instaling the pack again, it still didn't give me the file.. I'm going to be mad if they don't have it in the file anymore.. I bought two packs that need this bfBuck.obj, but I don't have it anywhere on my system, and it seems to not have come with eather pack. anyway I can get the bfBuck.obj? I'll hate to have wasted cash on two packs I can't use just cause they don't come with the right object file to use them.

E-mail tech support at DAZ, or post a message in the DAZ forums. It might be better to post a message in the DAZ forums, because DAZ is way behind on their e-mail, thanks to their server crash and the Starter Bungle mass confusion. Or call. Someone at DAZ can check the file and see if there's something wrong with it. I'm sure they'll fix it, one way or the other. Give you the right file, or give you your money back, if you wish.

Shaddex ( ) posted Thu, 07 October 2004 at 6:45 AM

Posted on the Daz Foruym plus emailed them and got zip, zilch, nada. Oh well.. someone did email me that has the file and is going to send it to me.. Well the file WAS to come with the pack so no harm in someone else sending it to me right?
