Subject: Vue5, I'm confused

Philywebrider ( ) posted Sat, 02 October 2004 at 3:25 PM · edited Wed, 05 February 2025 at 2:34 PM

The full version of Vue 5 Esprit ships on 2 CDs bursting with 50+ SolidGrowth 3 trees and plants, over 160 atmospheres, 460 materials, 250 high quality fully textured 3D objects and over 70 example scenes made by Vue master artists. A 340 page printed manual, a bookmark and a quick reference card are also included. When you register your copy of Vue5 Esprit, you will also receive a free $50 voucher for use in Cornucopia3D, e-on softwares upcoming Vue-content store. ------------------------------------------------------------E-on says you get the above with "THE FULL VERSION", does that mean the up-grade version from Vue4 to Vue5 is not a "FULL VERSION"? What version is not a "FULL VERSION"? I'm ready to buy, but I'm not sure of what to buy. Is there a phone number somewhere that I could call?

You likely still get the full version if you order the "Upgrade". If they are like Eovia, then you get the full version no matter what you buy, but they verify your previous version serial number when you order it... Paul

I got a number to call, (an order line), and when I asked about the "up-grade" vs "Full version" they said they didn't know if the up-grade was any different. :O( Understand I want to buy the program. I just want to make sure that the up-grade is a complete full version with everything.

An upgrade does not "add the features" to your existing Vue 4 program, it allows you to purchase the full Vue 5 if you have Vue 4 already at a reduced cost, it will simply ask you to prove you have Vue 4 on your system and then install Vue 5, The program does not become a hybrid Vue 4&5 program, it becomes Vue 5, no difference from the Full version in features or functionality. Also, Just FYI, Vue 5 will not read Vue 2 or 3 files, you must use the conversion utility that comes with the Vue 5 software (like Vue 4 Pro and in the future Vue 5 Pro).

nano is correct, its the same thing, just for a lower price since you already own vue4.

Has anybody actually bought the Vue4 to Vue5 up-grade? The box version with two discs, manual etc?

Philywebrider ( ) posted Sun, 03 October 2004 at 9:52 AM

E-on price list says Vue5 Esprit -Complete Product..................$249.00 Upgrade from Vue4 Esprit to Vue5 Esprit........$149.00 The fact they say "Complete Product" @ $249.00 and they don't say "Complete Product" on the upgrade is what makes me nervous.

I've bought the up-grade, waiting on delivery - I can keep you posted on the contents if you wish :o)

Thanks Nevermoe, I really would appreicate it. Nano, DVcreator, Pagzone and war2 thanks for your imput, I hope you're right, I just want to be sure. If the sales people are not sure, I want to be careful. I'm really anxious to place my order and get started working with Vue5, (the ads look terrific).

NP, may be a few days before I get delivery as I just went for the standard delivery but I'll be sure to get back to you as soon as I get it. :o)

It's definetly the full version - two disks, manual, etc. Mine was delivered on Friday, you don't even need vue 4 installed, after installing the upgrade, the first time you open Vue 5 it will ask for your Vue 4 serial number..

Many thanks Cowboyuk. :O)

QUOTE "The fact they say "Complete Product" @ $249.00 and they don't say "Complete Product" on the upgrade is what makes me nervous." /QUOTE It is possible that the upgrade version is not boxed. It wasn't, in fact, when I upgraded from 3 to 4. The printed manual, however, was there, and apparently it's here with this upgrade too: in my UPS page for the package, a weight of 0.9 Kgs is listed. Now, I just measured the weight of the Vue Pro manual and it's exactly 0.9 Kgs. Consider that the Vue 5 manual has some 100 pages LESS than the Vue Pro manual, and compare... I think the figure is revealing. So, I'd say that we upgraders are going to get the printed manual, but possibly not the box. Not a great loss, I tell you. What really counts (the printed manual) will be there.

Not even the time to click on the "send" button, and the bell rings - Vue 5 is here!!! :-) And my guess was right: manual yes, box no. But be happy - the manual has a very beautiful cover as well. :-)
