Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 24 7:34 pm)
Hi Steve, have you checked your display settings in the preferences? You should do that. And then, give V5 more time to display the things correxctly. It always starts with a gray box and after a while (thinks maybe wether the model is ok or not) they are displayed correctly. 750 mill polygons?? Are you sure? This would be a record i guess. My personal record is 100 mill polygons. For a Vue file. And i was quite proud of myself with that. One thing you can try out. Open the pz3's in Vue and save the imports then as vob's. This you load into V5 to see wether that makes a difference. Let us know.

ROFL, walther! I wish I could load 750 mil poly's! That should read 750,000! Anyhoo, I did try saving all the Poser peeps as .vob's and that did not help either! As for the "waiting for VUE to OK the model", I did experience this before and had to wait for the prog to OK my Posers, but this time 'round VUE just wasn't gonna cooperate '-)! I'm wondering, walther...if you or anyone else could let me know what settings you are using as far as OpenGL so I could have an idea of what I should be looking for re: a possible starting point! I have now gone back into Vue4 and currently have had no problems with this scene which is now up to 105Mb and well over a million poly's and thus far no signs of sluggishness...fingers crossed as I jinx myself here...LOL!
Looking forward to any further suggestions, ideas?

Steve, i am at home right now and have no hand at Vue. I will send you a screenshot of my preferences settings early next week. In the preferences settings under display you have some sliders that control the display quality - and speed therefore too. Maybe you play with those a little and see wether it changes anything. If you want to, you can send me the pz3's as well so that i can test them - if i have the models as well of course. But the chances are not too bad.

Just got back in, walther! Had to give my two remaining brain cells a bit of fresh air '-)! Going to go back into 5 and see what I can do by fiddling with the controls...although I am still a bit muddled as to the fact that 4 would handle the 105Mb like it did and 5 wants to give up at only 65-70Mb? Java in hand, I'm going in...watch my back...LOL!!
I had that sometimes as well. And the objects suddenly appeared (visually) when i selected another object. Or load a new one. And waited a while to let the program refresh all windows. A stupid question for the two brain cells. You are sure that you haven't turned on the Wireframe Box display option for an object? If you have done that the next loaded object is displayed in Wireframe Box mode too. But that would have been too easy i guess.

I am currently experiencing a number of problems with the above not playing well together'-)!
My new video card(NVIDIA GeForce FX5200)seems to be working fine with the basic items from the Vue libraries, i.e. plants, terrains, etc., but when I load a .pz3(any Poser character, no discrimination here'-)!) I am getting a solid grayish box with OpenGL turned on AND if I switch out to wireframe the result is a very sketchy version of the wireframe I am used to with Vue4!
Secondly, upon loading up three pz3's(approx 750mil polys and about 60Mb of folks) I am getting the dreaded out of memory pop-up prompting for a save and the "cross your fingers and pray that this works" caveat...LOL! While using Vue4(and this before the installation of this vid card, using just the 4Mb piece of plastic installed with my puter...LOL)I wouldn't encounter any problems 'til getting up around 150Mb worth of Poser figures?!?
I know a lot of folks here are using this card and I have done the test inside Vue5 for this card and it says it should work fine, which it does...I guess? just as long as I don't use any Posers...which for me, as you might already know, is asking quite a bit! LOL!
Any thoughts, ideas...short of giving up my Posers >VBG< would be greatly appreciated!!!
