Subject: Sort of a problem with importing Shade V7 models....

dlk30341 ( ) posted Wed, 20 October 2004 at 2:30 PM · edited Sun, 02 February 2025 at 4:53 PM

When I import the models.....the model has these HUGE spikey things coming out if it. It renders ok...but it's difficult to maneuver with the mesh "spiking". Anyone know what is causing this???? I was under the impression Vue could handle Shade models? TIA

Hi dlk30341 :) I am sorry I don't have Vue 5 yet, but this is what I get when importing the Shade Bed_001 in Vue 4 ... Maybe a Vue 5 bug ? Did you try importing the same bed in Vue 4 yourself ? Wish I could be of more help :( Elaine

I just tried with Vue 5, and I don't have this problem at all with any of the models I tried. I tried all of the included models with Shade 7 Standard.

I dont understand why people buy Shade7 at all.

GWeb, Usually it's because we find it useful and have fun with that proggie ! It's a great modeler and a very good complement for Vue. What I don't understand is why people make comments like yours ! Elaine

Hmmmm...wonder what I'm doing wrong????? Guess I'll have play more tonight...it happened with all the models I tried :(.

I am serious. I downloaded the Shade7 demo and the menu stuff is too few and tools is useless and hard to use. I get more out of Amapi and other proggies than Shade7. I hope that the demo is bad because I want to be able to use Liquid plug-in from Next Limit in Shade7 for my project.

Jcleaver ( ) posted Thu, 21 October 2004 at 9:37 AM

Then, use Amapi. I do not think though that this thread was intended to be a request for peoples opinions on Shade. If you wish to give your opinion, start a new topic, or respond to one already started. Don't hijack other threads for your own purpose.

When I import other items 3ds/obj it always asks if I want to weld the vertices...Importing Shade items it does not. It asks about mesh size & something else, can't remember now & not at home. What are the settings you all are using to import??? Shade specific. TIA - Again :)

Jcleaver ( ) posted Thu, 21 October 2004 at 12:25 PM

The other thing it asks is for Map resolution. I was just using the default settings of 1 for Mesh resolution, and 128 for Map resolution.

Can't wait till I get home to see what's going on. Thanks JClever :)

I tested Vue 4 & it came in OK....Went back into V5 & the emsh came in as above. I had to go into object edit & weld vertices & all went back to "normal". I wish I could figure out what the !@#$ is going on. Things like this annoy me...when it works for everyone else but me. I checked my pref's in 5 compared to 4 & all was the same....so go figure. Also the problem disappeared when I went into Open GL mode....I have that turned off normally as it's slow, but hey it works :)

JClever theres not very many shade7 in forums. So please mind uyour own business. I just want to hear people inputs about Shade7. Since you won't put good name on Shade7 or save it then it is bad proggie.

Well Gweb...I've not had a chance to really use it as of yet. I bought Shade7 standard. I've piddled around & so far what little I've seen I like it. That's just my preference, I've yet to be able to figure out other modeling programs so Shade will suit me fine :).

GWeb: For your information, there is a shade forum here in renderosity. You should perhaps post there... And to answer your question, Shade7 is a great program not so expansive. The pro version is nearly the same price as amapi7 pro. Shade7 has also some interesting feature (poser import, magical sketch, powerfull lightning, ...). Of what i read on the eovia website, amapi hasn't really a rendering engine. But i agree that Shade7 isn't really user friendly...
