Well, page 59 in the manual... You have to do an animation for the object you want to blur. And then render a frame of this animation (or the whole sequence of course). Keep in mind that the start or the end frame of an animation do not have any blurring because there the speed is zero. So you have to render a frame somewhere in between. The rest are more or less render settings. You need to render in broadcast or higher. Only then blur is available. More or less because the amount of blurring depends on the speed of the object, in relation to the camera. So it sometimes needs a little tweeking there too. AND, effects like that (motion blur, dof etc) will increase the render times a lot. So don't be surprised...

When you do stills then it might be an option to do that in postwork. Photoshop for example. Good control and exactly as you want it. Select an area and say "motion blur please". The "please" is important of course - otherwise you have to do it manually! To make it easier you can render objects separately with mask and combine those in Photoshop. Only another option.

bonnyclump, that is a great image. The DOF and motion blur are amazing, as is the tension line created by the dragons' wings and necks.
My 2 Euros worth, not that you asked for it, but the tip of the spear needs to be, even more than it already is, the central point both geometrically and in terms of lighting. Get it to really catch and reflect some light!

I've been trying motion blur in Vue4. And the results are less than I was hoping for. The edges of the blurred item, and it's shadow, are very grainy, nothing like the image above. I'm doing a very high-res render with the best settings possible. My guess is that Vue5 or VuePro does this better. But I would be interested to see any motion blur samples done in Vue 4 (not pro) to see if they are drastically different from mine. Thanks, Jeff

Simple question that I really should know the answer to :-) How do I add motion blur to an object in Vue 5? I can't seem to find the answer in the manual ... ... Thanks, Bernie
