Hello Everyone. I need some info on where I should start out on making textures for poser people. I have no idea where to start. I have been using poser for a few years off and on. So can someone just tell me the basics of starting out. I know it has something to do with uv mapping. LOL Thanks a lot! emily

First thing you want to do is get Steve cox's UVmapper, its free, or you can buy the pro edition with more features. Either one will allow you to create a uv template on which you can create your texture. (The uv mapper site, if I remember correctly, has tutorials on how to use it.) Once you have you template, you can use it to create anything you can think of. Hope that helps.

Heyas I made a small tutorial for you, if you have more questions you are free to ask.
  1. there are 2 options
    1.1 painting texture maps
1.2 cutting and pasting from photos

1.1 here you can find loads of tutorials here on rosity and other siteds, just hit the search engine here.

1.2 cutting and pasting from photos:

as you can see in the attached image it is pretty easy, just cut the pieces you want on the UV map. and place them on the corresponding parts of the UV map. but be aware that cutted parts matches the lines from the UV map otherwise your texture will look awful when rendered in Poser or another 3D program. If you have pasted all the parts like nose; eyes; brows and lips you can clone the rest from the photos to fill in the blanks. Or you can be precise and cut the rest of the photo and paste small parts on the UV map to fill in the blanks.

You can do this all in any Photo program that uses cutting, pasting and cloning, like Adobe Photo shop or Jasc Paintshop pro etc
Have a nice and creative texturing day!,

Rock PS. the more photos you have the better it's best to at least have a front and a side photo of the face

And after a while you get something like this: :) this one is not completely done though but know you have an idea how it works etc.

Rock BTW it doesn't matter how the texture map looks it's how it looks on the model, that is what counts ;)

wow thanks everyone for your help! Ok I was playing around and made a texture for a dress. But I put it in poser and it would not work? How do I make what I make work? Where do I put it? for instance on the example Rock showed me, where and how would I use it in poser? And how can I make a Icon for what I am making? Emily

Poser 5 is what I am using, and I also would like to know how I can add my textures to there own library. I know I am getting ahead of myself here, but I like to look foward and know where I am heading LOL.

You need something like mat pose edit ( at the link ) to make the textures have their own icons. Version 3 works with poser 5.
