i've finally pinpointed why your scene work stands out in my mind... it has a very distinctive "3D game" feel to it rather than something simply made for use within Poser... it'd surely suck to lose you as a merchant around these parts, but damn, i'm just waiting for some gaming company to come in and steal you away, or a company that does CGI modeling for films... this past year, leaps & bounds, Stef... leaps & bounds...

oh wow! awesome as always Stefan!

Holy cow Stef! This is amazing! I am just sitting here staring at all the minute details! From the pipe cluster, to the wires on the walls to the plethora of rivets on the walls! Brilliant work my friend!

movida ( ) posted Sat, 23 October 2004 at 9:33 PM

ever considered organic modelling? You or Moe?

Coleman ( ) posted Sat, 23 October 2004 at 9:36 PM

Bravo! Bravo! I'll have to take out a loan at the rate you're cranking out these fabulous sets!

hauksdottir ( ) posted Sat, 23 October 2004 at 9:51 PM

Very handsome. I like the clean black and white images.

stonemason ( ) posted Sat, 23 October 2004 at 10:11 PM

Movida .."ever considered organic modelling? You or Moe?" Moe hasn't been involved in these last couple of models..he's too busy working on Dystopia stuff ;)..though like Moe I do prefer the non organic stuff. I have made a couple of 'organic' models for the Daz Platinum club recently..'Graveyard bits 'n pieces' has a z-brush modelled mimic ready head and articulated arm..I do alot of organic stuff in z-brush but most of it doesn't see the light of day Giana(xo)..I could understand that completely,I've been playing alot of 'Doom3' lately..& the environments in that are such that I rarely play the game in favour of just staring at the scenery :)...so if it rubs off in my work & looks worthy of a game model then I'm happy! Cheers Stefan

If I were able to think at ALL in 3D, I'd follow Stoney's path. Sales-wise, I think there is a lot more opportunity than making the umpteenth version of Vickie. And, how many "Vickies" does a person need? What actually is needed, IMHO, is settings. Hi-res quality stuff. And that's why I buy everything Stoney does! Keep 'em coming, Stef!

Xena ( ) posted Sat, 23 October 2004 at 11:10 PM

Hey Stef, can I fly over and then just stand behind your chair and watch you work :D Chuck ... hell yes. I've been saying that for ages too. So many people, nowhere to stick 'em ;)

nomuse ( ) posted Sun, 24 October 2004 at 1:34 AM

Good god, they just keep getting better! (Not that the previous items were bad, mind you...!) This has that richness and solidity of some of the below-decks of the WWII ships I've tramped around. Great "heavy" metal stuff that would look right in some of that modern military SF....Honor Harrington, anyone?

semidieu ( ) posted Sun, 24 October 2004 at 1:58 PM

Hey cool !!!!!! It looks really amazing... You finally found the inspiration for a name other than Level XX ? ;-) And another question: what does G.S.F.C means ? Great Science Fiction Construction ? Good Stefan Fast Creator ? Great Stress For Creditcard ?

Any functional elements? For instance, will the valves turn, hatches and panels open for maintenance, etc?

stonemason ( ) posted Mon, 25 October 2004 at 9:09 AM

"will the valves turn, hatches and panels open for maintenance, etc? " Unfortunately no,the poly count was getting pretty high at close to 50k so I didnt model the backside of anything & the only groups I made we're the wall's and end section for easy camera access. If I'd modelled the hatch to open, then I'd need a cavity beyond that so it opens into something..It happens all the time, model a door.then you need to make a room beyond the door..where do you stop? the valves I hadnt thought of..do you want them to turn? Cheers Stef

Another great model ! How the heck do you manage to make so many, so perfect, so fast ? You must be a machine yourself !

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Mon, 25 October 2004 at 12:08 PM

the valves I hadnt thought of..do you want them to turn?

Just a thought, for animations and the like, in the event of a steam pipe rupture or coolant leak. Wouldn't require much (if anything) in the way of further modeling, although you'd need additional body parts in the CR2.

The other stuff would add further value to the package, but I can certainly understand the need to draw a practical line somewhere.
