I fought with the DTE to get a very specific looking bump to simulate a shower door (or, at least what MY shower door looks like) Ended up using a scan of white styrofoam, lol. The bump works well. AS

I scaled it up 15%, and used it at a bump level of 25%. In this case, the refraction level can change the look of the bump also, I used a refraction of 200 here.

(and, no...my shower door does not say "DAZ" on it)

[wow!!! superb texturing] what about render times? When I made something similiar the render engine got angry.

Doublecrash ( ) posted Fri, 29 October 2004 at 10:44 AM

That's some bump! Perfect with the refraction. Hey, if there's a shower door with a nekkid gal inside as a bonus, I'll buy 20 copies of DAZ's Bryce :) S.

Perfection. I've been after something similar for ages. I forget why now. But I'm sure I'll think of something. :-)

One thing blatantly missing from AS's shower door...AS nekkid ;P

LunarTick ( ) posted Fri, 29 October 2004 at 11:23 AM

Doublecrash don't let my girlfriend know that, she just bought DAZ Bryce, didn't want to tell her about the added bonus ;)

That's good looking, but... You should kick me, cause I remember such things only when other people post. I did a material that looks quite like that with only a Bryce for texture. No scans, no anything. I'll post the pic of the settings later, when I assemble it in Photoshop.

And this is the way to get the glass. I apparently didn't come that way, but came to it by choosing the green bumped glass and then putting the white into Transparent, as well as changing the transparency and refraction. Anyway, the DTE bump map is exactly the same in spite of the different name. BTW, lower the refraction, lighter the area behind the glass is gonna be. Changing the scale will naturally change the scale of the bumps. HTH and sorry that I didn't think of it earlier.

yep Colette, we (you and I) have definately got great minds, either that or we're just two perverted ole ladies, lol. @Erlik thats a great texture too, interesting how two people go about getting essentially the same thing.

Ardiva ( ) posted Fri, 29 October 2004 at 6:12 PM

Hey! I could go for AS nekkid as well. lol Great job AS..it looks perfect and ready to hang in my shower. When ya coming by to test it out? :D

AgentSmith ( ) posted Fri, 29 October 2004 at 7:22 PM

I AM available for freelance work...lol. zakalwe - the first post there took about 11.5 minutes to render. Yeah, anything with transparency, refraction, reflection, and 2d faces with transparencies...is gonna take more time. ;o( AS

Just for the record. I've been planning on doing a Naked Vickie in the Shower pic soon. I'm not sure if I'll use bumpy glass, but if I do, I'll be useing one of Erlik's bumpy glass. Thanks for the thread guys.
