Please can someone help me. When I want to import a background I get a popup: the background width/heigt ratio is defferent than the current window. change window to match background, I press then on yes and on the screen 't is oke, but when i render 't the background is not match the same size as the document windows size.I have many space above and under. I have already again poser installed, windows adapted. photo adapted to document . nothing works finds this strange It has import done always good. My excuse for my english these is not optimal. Who can help me ?. I have poser 5 Thanks Dukun

The best thing you can do is to make sure your background is the same size as your document window. If your document window is 600x600 pixels, then your background should be the same.

Yes i have done this..but 't is not working. regards dukun

You need your background picture to be the same shape (ratio) as the document window. For example, if your render window is 1000x1000, you need your picture to also be 1000x1000 for best results - or it could be 2000x2000 (and Poser will shrink it) or 500x500 (and Poser will enlarge it). But it must be the same shape. If your render window is 800x600 then your background picture needs to be 800x600 or 1024x768 or 640x480... Also if you are rendering to a new window, you must make sure that your render window is the same shape as your document window, otherwise you will not get an accurate preview. Make sure "Constrain aspect ratio" is selected in the render options.

OK, try this. Make a new document and set the document window to be 600x600 pixels. Import a background picture which you have chosen and resized to 600x600 pixels. Go to Render Options. Select "Render to new window" and click the "Match Document Window" button (1) Then select "Constrain Aspect Ratios" (2) and set the render size you want. Just type in the first number and the second will be filled in. Render. Now tell me if you still have blank space above and below the background picture, or at either side. I think this will work for you. I had this problem a lot when I first started because I didn't understand that the new window render had to be the same proportions as the pose window - otherwise my preview would not be accurate.

If you have white space at the sides of the picture, then your ratios are wrong. What size is your background picture that you import? What size is your document/render window?

my backgrond picture is 781 w and 1069 h and my document/render is the same..

KarenJ ( ) posted Tue, 02 November 2004 at 4:34 PM

Your document window is 781x1069? What size screen do you have? When you import the picture, you say you get the message "the background width/height ratio is different than the current window" and you press Yes to change the picture. If your document window is the same shape, then this shouldn't happen. Go to Window>Document Window Size to check the current size. (My screen is set at 1280x1024 - Poser won't let me enter your screen size as my document window. I'm wondering if you have a high screen res, if the bottom of the document window is off your screen?)

you are importing a background picture using the File-Import Background feature and then rendering in firefly. This is wrong. (unless you use the P4 renderer). The background will ALways be square and tile. You need to go into the material room, select the background material, and apply your picture as a shader there.

:-((((((((( i have done this ..still the same problem

You could use a onesided square from the props > primitives. Apply the texture to that, till you figure out whats wrong. Scale the square to your texture size, eg. 800w > x scale 800%, 600h > y scale 600%. Then you can use the main scale to fit the screen.

If you use high camera focal settings it'll pixelate the background prop texture. I feel ya Dukun. Firefly doesn't accept backgrounds like P4 renderer does. I think Ynsaen has the answer though. I'll probably get slapped for this dumb question but... Ynsaen, how to you make the background a 'shader'? This Firefly background thing has been a headache for me too.

Here is one way of using the BG, Or you could plug the image in instead, or even try 2 different images with the blender. You can get some great effects mixing up nodes and images together. There is no limit to what can be done. This is one reason I can't understand why some people won't move on to P5.
