Subject: Converting or Transferring Morphs Between V3 and M3

mathman ( ) posted Tue, 02 November 2004 at 7:48 PM · edited Fri, 07 February 2025 at 2:06 PM

Hi all, A little while ago, I saw a product which converts/transfers head morphs between V3 and M3. I think it was in the RMP, but I'm not 100% sure. Can anyone point me in the correct direction ? thanks, Andrew

Hmmm... I think Jim said that Dodger was working a method to do it. I don't think its been released yet and it would be over at poser pros if it was...

Thanks, Papa. Yes I have known for quite a while that this new utility was in the works (can't wait), however what I am talking about was something I saw quite a while ago. I'm pretty sure it said that it was specifically only transferring between V3 and M3 (I'm sure it was pre-D3, it might have even been pre-SP3). regards, Andrew

Andrew, There is a product here at the 'sity that does transfer just head morphs, but I don't remember what it was called.

Found them. Do a search by vendor here on on mmogul. He's got M3 to V3 as one package, and V3 to M3 as another.

If you open up V3 in UVMapper, you can import M3's UVs then save the remapped V3 mesh under a new name. (I know you can do this with the Pro version, I'm almost positive you can do it with the free version.) After that, open up the V3.cr2 file and point it to the new mesh, then save under a new name.

That mesh will accept M3 morphs instead of V3 morphs. You can inject all the M3 morphs and save the file to the Figure library. Using the Tailor, you should be able to transfer those M3 morphs back to the normally mapped V3 figure.

There are probably other ways to move the morphs back to the original V3 figure, but that one might be the easiest. I haven't played with this much, yet, to look at alternatives.

Cheers! (Edited for typos.)

Thanks, pdxjims. That was the one that I was looking for. BTW, do you happen to know how far down the track it will be before your (Dodger's ?) utility will be available ? Thanks also, Crescent. Aren't the UV maps more to do with textures rather than morphs, though ?

The UVs state the coordinates of the points and the order of the points. If you import the UVs from 2 figures with the same points, but different point orders/coordinates, the new UVs will reorder the points. V3 and M3 have the same points, but with different coordinates and point order in some parts of the body. (The body was regrouped for the JPs and that changed the point order.) Bear in mind, not all the transferred morphs will look good at full strength. After all, the morphs were made with a very different structure in mind. (I'm afraid to see what happens when I play with the body morphs! Gonna be one ugly lady, I think.) Cheers!

You can'tdo it witht he Free UVMapper ... at least to my knowledge. I have tried and failed. I really wish there was something that could do it for me
