The update to Vue 5 is now on e-on's website both for the mac and the PC. There was a problem with the PC version downloading earlier, but it has been corrected and it downloads properly. I haven't installed it yet and have not checked to see if they state what it covers. Paula

The info on the update was right in front of me. I have copied it from the e-on site and put it here. It is as follows: Update to Version 5.02 - Build 273045 This update is available for Mac and Windows platforms. This update mostly fixes initial release bugs. This update is still in beta. The following is a list of bug fixes and improvements included in this update: Refresh bug when switching from GR to Standard in the atmosphere editor. Sky dome anti-aliasing with low quality settings generate conspicuous artefacts. A crash when changing a material used by a procedural terrain. An infinite loop when the user name has non-ascii characters. HyperVue network rendering. Atmosphere editor Fog & Haze tab when sun was deleted. A message complaining about the memory requirements would show up on the mac if at least 2GB are installed. Fixed a crash when editing the function of a terrain that was converted to procedural. Fixed a crash when removing the animation from Dave. File handles leak when accessing string resources. On the mac, all the menu shortcuts appeared with the command key. paula

what about the render size limit? I thought that was going to be fixed in this update?

I have been trying ever since this was released to download it, but the screen says by serial number is bad. Now, I'm reading DIRECT from the registration card! It installed fine and number registered fine.. now to download a patch, it's bad? E-on support has NO way to contact them except thru a forum where I left a message. This is really flustrating! What do I do to get the patch! I have my receipts, a working serial, and can't download? Any ideas?

Remember - the update is still in Beta. I am sure your message on their forum will be answered. There may be a simple explanation to that (like you have to be registered on a list to download beta updates like they have done before). For the render size limitation - be patient. Once again, this is a beta version :)

Won't be able to try out update till tomorrow, however, when I asked Vue(within the program) to check for updates, it said there were none. Maybe because this is still beta????

I seem to remember from Pro that betas have to be downloaded outside of the program. Only official releases are available as updates or autoupdates within Vue.

I see that the blurb mentions that HyperVue network rendering is included but after installing the update I can find no changes to Vue that will make any use of it. If it is indeed included, how can I get it working?

To register the product, you don't need the serial number, but a number generated by vue after install. I don't have the software in fornt of me, but it will be somewhere in options or 'help - about' or something.

lingrif ( ) posted Thu, 04 November 2004 at 4:30 AM

It's in Help>About. Vue reformats it - it begins with INST-. Use that to get the update.

I just got it via my account at eon, once in there you just click on updates and they don't ask for any serials, you just download the file. As for the HyperVue question I asked, the answer is that it only works if you have Mover. I was hoping they were giving us a pro feature for nothing, too much to ask maybe but they could have been a lot clearer in their list :-D
