Subject: DAZ has a new sub called Scream Design and I was hijacked!!!!!

keyze ( ) posted Mon, 15 November 2004 at 10:55 AM · edited Thu, 07 November 2024 at 8:38 AM

A DAZ employee started there own site affiliated with DAZ. The new sit came on line last Thursday. I went on line like usual and looked around for free stuff. Then I tried to go into DAZ to get something downloaded that I had already paid for. It would not let me in or even sign in at DAZ but highjacked me to the Scream Design page. I was so worried that information that was given to DAZ was going right along with my IE browser. I went into my computer and deleated everything that I could safely do and tried again. Got on the net here at Renderosity and everyone told me to get away from IE that it could be done and IE had to many problems. I went and downloaded Mozilla (the new one). Still it would not let me in to DAZ. I also called and had all my credit cards cancelled. Needless to say it was a really bad weekend. First thing this morning I got on the phone to DAZ. It seems that Scream Design is a new site owned by an employee of DAZ. I asked how to fix it because I was a paid for a year at DAZ. As stated before I have stuff I need to download. I am waiting for DAZ to call me and tell me how to fix this mess. If any of you are having this problem please call DAZ so they know I am not the only one with the problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will try to post as soon as I find out if it is fixable. The tech said he did not know how and had to find someone who had some idea of how to fix. If I don't get it fixed I want the yearly membership I paid to be reinbursed. I really would like to keep my membership but, if I can't get into DAZ I will be spending all that money right here at Renderosity. I sure am glad that Renderosity knows how to keep stuff straight.

OK, I am still not able to get into DAZ. I spoke to Mr. Cremer and he said it was my ISP that had not updated. I called my ISP, who had tried to call Mr. Cremer to find out exactly what was going on. Mr Cremer told me to have them call him. HE IS NOT IN THE OFFICE! My ISP says it is there problem that my certificate got assigned to the new store when they split off scream design. Mr. Cremer stated that my ISP was at fault. It looks like the problem started with DAZ studio and I think it should be fixed by DAZ. Mr. Cremer gave me another url so I tried it ten different ways and still I can not get into DAZ for ScreamDesign highjacking my computer. I have also deleted all cashes in DOS command as well as deleting cookies and temp files. I know I am getting to the front page but I CAN NOT SIGN IN TO DAZ. Can any of you Tech's tell me how to fix the mess. I have been going through this since last Friday!

Hey keyze, You need to DL the utility program called "Hijack This". It's free but is used by many pro "IT" guys. It only takes just a few seconds to scan your system, and then gives a complete log file of everything that could be redirecting your browser. Most of the items are legit and should be there so you need to figure out which one is the culprit.

The link for the DL also has a space for you to copy and paste that log file, for someone to take a look at.
To save you time, (as I don't know how long it takes to get the results back), post your log file here in this thread, and I or somebody else can tell you which item is at fault.
At that point you just have Hijack This delete it, and your all back to normal.

I really don't think you have a serious problem going on here, just a redirector hiccup.... caused by Daz's site upgrade.

WEll, my ISP took me into DOS. It is a simple fact that my Registration is at SCREAM DESIGN. They are the same company!!!!! Now how do you think it happened with out a lot of help from within. I cleaned out my computer with in DOS. So the only way I am being hijacked is within DAZ computer. The program you are talking just cleans out the same cashes I cleaned out in DOS!!!!!! Still this is an internal DAZ problem. I am still waiting for a call from Mr. Cremer. He has been out to lunch for several hours now and no one else seems to know what to do!!!!!!!!!!!!! THis is not my fault nor the fault of my ISP. It is all within DAZ. My ISP has had a message in for him for several hours to discuss the problem and they have not gotten a call back either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well you do what you want,as I was just trying to help you here. "Hijack This" does not clean out temp file, cashes, etc.(like you have already done). It locates the browser redirectors that are in the registry and system structure.....That is how and from where you get hijacked.

Stormrage ( ) posted Mon, 15 November 2004 at 5:33 PM

keyze, Scream Design is not a new site. It's been around for quite a while. What browser are you using? What is the exact url you try to go to when you get redirected? Some of the links at the beginning of the site redesign were directed to Scream Design however most have been fixed. I'll send a mail about your problem, however if you could give me the information it might help. Thanks. JGreenlees Daz Forum Moderator.

Ditto Swamp.....I've been hijacked before by porn sites, different types of tool bar/search items. It only takes 1 line of code to hijack a website. I believe something has maliciously made it's way into your computer. I've NEVER had Daz or any other Poser(official) site hijack me to anywhere. I vote you do what Swamp has suggested. Hell, until this thread I never knew about ScreamDesign ~shrug~.

As a matter of fact, I run Spybot on a daily basis before I go to bed each night. Somehow/somewhere everyday Gator makes it's way to my machine. Those bastards don't even ask anymore...it just installs itself, from where I have no clue. If you are being hijacked some program has been installed on your machine to allow this. Sneaky, aren't they :) DO what Swamp has suggested....been there, done that and was cured :)

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have worked with Jeff all day and have basically been given the royal run around. This problem started last week. I starting having trouble on Friday. When I try to log in at DAZ it jumps to Scream Design. When I talked to him last tonight he said something about I was comming into the sight at 9 unsteed if 8 and that my ISP was fine on 8 but I was not comming through on 8. He sent me back to my ISP for the 3rd time today. This was after my ISP nor I could get him to call us back for most of the afternoon. I spoke to him twice between five and six my time. He reiterated that it was my ISP. I went over everything with my ISP. We did a msconfig nflookup and got the following information: server.nsl.ocevnet.org 64.216.191.250 Non-athurative answer Name: daz3d8.daz3d.com Address: 192.220.126.45 Aliases: www.daz3d.com This is the same information gaven Ted at my ISP as being correct. I had to go to information about the people who run daz to even send this message. I have given up. If I can not access your site I want a refund of the yearly membership fee I just paid. Latest e-mail to DAZ

Keyze

Try refreshing your cache.

Several of the Daz pages were erroneously redirected to Scream design which is DAZ's web design company.

No one has been hijacked.

Let me go digging for the Forum posting on this

Blasted webpage takes forever to load ever since the site redesign...

Crescent:
"Scream Design is a sister company to DAZ (or maybe niece). Anyhoo, it's a related company that is involved with end graphics and web design.

What link(s) are you clicking on to see their site? When I clicked on the Software: DAZ|Studio, I got the right page.

Thanks,

Cres"

The cache stores pages and images that you have browsed to, in order to speed loading if/when you return to these pages. If you still get the ScreamDesign page, the DAZ web page you have loaded may be the old one, with the redirect, rather than the updated one.

Way Cool! ....But it didn't help. I still get ScreamDesigns.

Got any more cool tricks? "

don't delete files unless you know what you're doing. Most of the files are legitamate and are needed..It might be a good idea to run it now, that will establish a base, in case you have problems later. save the log file.

Ok, I spent all day yesterday messing with Jeff at DAZ. He kept saying it was my ISP. My guy at my ISP said it was at DAZ. Well what was really happening was something from DAZ was sent because I had the numbers in my win32 for Scream and it was labled as DAZ. All day I fought and fought trying to find out what was happening. After the e-mail I sent yesterday evening I called back Daz one more time. I have spoken to Vicky befor and she helped me right away, it took about 30 minutes to figure out what was happening. She walked me through deleting all bad references to Daz with the Scream numbers. I got right on!!!! She was the only one who took the time to figure out what was happening and was not embarassed to ask someone how to correct it. I called DAZ back and told them to let me know if she ever quits or nolonger works for DAZ because I might just as well let my membership laps because she is the only one who has ever been able to help me there. Lots of KUDO's to Vicky at DAZ. HIJack was absolutely no help at all. I do have the since to know what files are safe to delete. It is just 3D I am new to.
