Fractals F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 13 3:03 pm)
I'm not completely sure, butI think the new XenoDream upgrade will have that function. I'ts not out yet, but should be soon. If you have XD, you may want to join the mail group to read up on what will be included in the new version.....I tend to "not process" what's being said until it's actually in front of me to play with. LOL :) Miriah
Hi Zhann, you can map fractals onto 3D objects. I mostly use TrueSpace for my 3D spheres, instead of simply wrapping the fractal onto a sphere, you can get a spherical mapping corrector(I use one in PSP from Richard Roseman), that way it maps better. If you want to use transparency you have to have a UV Map, and that's where I'm currently trying to learn. If you are using Bryce, ask the people in the Bryce forum, they'll probably be more than happy to help. Hope this helps in some small way, William!
You can create .obj models of fractals using Fractal Explorer although these are only "terrain" type meshes and a material file isn't generated. It would be similar to using a grayscale image of a fractal in the terrain editor of Bryce. (I'm not sure about how level of detail woulld compare though.) You can also export .dxf models from Visions of Chaos, but I have not yet had the opportunity to view the result in a 3d program. Both programs generate massive files when exporting 3d. Hope that helps :) Brodiss

a fractal program that will export a chosen fractal in a 3d format, as in obj, 3ds etc. I love generating strange and weird fractals but I'd like to have some of the better ones as 3D models I can import and texture in Bryce, Vue, C4D, etc.....anyone know? doesn't have to be freeware, can be shareware or for purchase....
