I made something in Anim8tor and when iI open it in poser the edges are smooth and the planes are weirdly iluminated... is ther anything I can do to fix this now after the fact? I tried UVmapper but that didn't work. Thanks.

Can you post an image of the problem? Which boxes did you check when importing into Poser and exporting from UVMapper?

Are you using Poser 5? There is a smoothing setting somewhere in there. With UVMapper, you would use the "split vertices" tool.
