Didn't know where to put this, but thought of starting something. "Show Your Tree." Well, Wife and I put up the tree, and this is our Tree. Bear Moves (Mouth and Body), and sings "Winter Wonderland" Lights Off.

Lol@ ziggie... I hope the door behind the tree isn't the washroom or the next 20 days are gonna be pretty miserable.

Robo2010 ( ) posted Sun, 05 December 2004 at 7:39 PM

No..that is the door to the outside (BackYard). We do not need to go through there. So, we decided to have it locked for the rest of the Season. :-)

Here's mine. Took me all day to render. ;-)

Most of the ornaments are homemade, many of them by me and my sister when we were kids. Mom always said homemade was best. (It wasn't until I grew up that I realized that the truth was that we couldn't afford storebought ornaments, LOL! To this day, I prefer handmade Christmas decorations.)

Mine's up! Yup, that's as good as it gets this year. Parents are out of town, both brothers moved outta state, and my girlfriend...well don't get me wrong for I didn't lose my girlfriend, I know right where to find her, just when I go there there's someone else kissing her under the mistletoe! Now if I can just find a good restaurant that serves reindeer on Christmas Eve....

Last year we got my daughter an electronic keyboard with stand, chair, whole nine yards.... it took up the last free corner in the house so now we have NO place to put a tree. I'm thinking I may hang some branches and lights on the wall behind the couch in an artistic manner.... ha! Figure the odds.

Just a tiny one for us, as we have no spare floor space this year as my hubbie just came out of hospital following a spinal operation and we now have a single bed in the living room.

Our tree here is still in the box, could send a pic of the box :-)

Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.

Attached Link: http://www.evergrowing.com/tips/araucaria.htm

It's a Norfolk Pine. Commonly used as a houseplant in offices and such, when potted. Outside, it can grow to be 200 feet tall.

It's a popular Christmas tree in Hawai`i because it's a tropical plant. Other pine trees won't grow in the tropics. It will grow a foot or more a year, so my dad planted four trees in the backyard. Each year, he cuts one down to use as a Christmas tree. By the time he's cycled through them, the first one is tall enough to be a Christmas tree again.

They are pretty trees, with a lot of space for ornaments. They don't have that "piney" smell, though.

The species is originally from Norfolk Island in Australia. Supposedly, Captain Cook brought it to Hawai`i, hoping to make ship masts out of them. They turned out to be unsuitable for that purpose, though.

They are really nice.. I was wondering if one would do well here, but since I'm in the mountains, I'l have to live with the traditional ones. (NC produces the majority of Christmas trees country wide...)

They are easy to grow indoors. They don't need too much light. They are popular houseplants, even in the northeastern U.S. You just have to keep them indoors in winter.
