She's gorgeous - but boy is she taking a long time to load up - I loaded Vicky 3 and pushed the Xie Inj button sometime yesterday evening and she's still loading today. Every once in awhile she asks for another file like inj-lcollar.pz2, and when I give it to her Poser then chugs away for a few hours, until it's time to ask for another file, and uses all my CPU to boot! I sure hope she's worth the trouble - I've never had a figure take this long to load up.

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Tue, 14 December 2004 at 2:37 PM

Lon, Xie's not for V3, she's for S3. That could be why it's taking so long...

Good googly moogly - I bet you're right! That's what I get for not reading the read-me's before trying something new - but Poser still seems to be trying to get it to work - I wonder what will happen? As soon as I get home it's time to restart Poser and put Steph3 in like I should've - and I'll report all the good things I see when Xie loads up!

randym77 ( ) posted Tue, 14 December 2004 at 3:02 PM

Yup, that's probably it. She doesn't take long at all for me (with SP).

If you don't have SP, you can still use Xie's textures on V3. I've also been using her custom eyelid morph on V3 and Laura, as well as SP. It has to be dialed down a bit, but other than that, it works pretty well.

Khrys, I'm suddenly having a problem with Xie. I didn't before. And the pz3 I saved with Xie in it last month looks fine. But now when I try to inject the Xie head morph, it looks weird. (See image.)

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I tried reinstalling Xie, SP, her morph packs, her update, and the IB pack and update, but it hasn't helped. I've tried other SP custom head morphs, and they look fine.

Do you think the International Beauties update DAZ recently issued might be causing this?

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Wed, 15 December 2004 at 3:51 AM

Randy, that's entirely possible. I didn't download the update because I'm on a slow connection. I know they outright changed several morphs without telling people, which is just BEGGING to cause problems with other products. I'd honestly contact Daz3d and ask them about it, because if the PZ3 you saved looks weird, it's gotta be on their end. :(

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Wed, 15 December 2004 at 4:42 AM

If I can download the update, sometime soon, I'll release a morph that will hopefully fix all those weird issues like the huge lumps over her eyes, under her eyes and around her nose that you seem to be having, Randy. DAZ really needs to stop screwing with things that work and fixing things that don't, not worrying about if Filipina is spelled properly or not in the CR2. :(

randym77 ( ) posted Wed, 15 December 2004 at 5:33 AM

The pz3 I saved looks fine, and so do various other pz3s I saved with Xie in them.

DAZ said the IB update made the maps compatible with Aiko, and I thought that meant only the textures/MATs changed. But I can't figure out what else could be causing this.

I think you only need to download the file on the "product updates" page to update the IB pack for Poser. It's only 3 Mb. You only have to download all those files that appeared on your account page if you want the D|S files. At least, that's what the e-mail they sent out said.

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Wed, 15 December 2004 at 5:38 AM

Randy, here's something you might try. Open up your Pz3 file with Xie and copy the face settings using edit> copy on the head or just hitting ctrl+c. Paste them into a text editor, then try loading Xie in a new PZ3 file from her default loading settings. Paste the previous settings onto the new head, see if that changes anything. If it doesn't, I'm afraid it's from an outside source. :(

randym77 ( ) posted Wed, 15 December 2004 at 6:27 AM

I tried it, and it didn't fix it. Must be the IB update.

I would reinstall the old version of IB to check, but I don't have it any more. Usually, I rename updates so they don't overwrite the old files, but these files were so big that I didn't want to keep two versions of them.

I can use previously saved versions of Xie, so it's no big deal, I guess. I'll e-mail DAZ tech support about it if you want, though they seem rather overwhelmed these days.

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Wed, 15 December 2004 at 6:32 AM

I just love it when DAZ does sneaky, underhanded things. I've already contacted them about this. If I don't hear a response by about 10am, EST, I'm calling them and complaining about their lack of documentation on updates. I have to say that now I'm more than a little wary of updating ANY of my files.

randy and Khrys, I'm also afraid it might be the updated IB morphs. I bought Xie on sale and just purchased the IB morphs (specifically for her) last night and I seem to see the same problems, most notably above the eyes to the left of the nose and the left cheek bone. 8( Here's a plain render of her face. PLease, under stand this isn't a complaint, (though if you do make an update please let me know), but an attempt to identify the problem. mike

LonCray ( ) posted Wed, 15 December 2004 at 9:19 AM

I, too, bought the IB morphs just to use Xie - I went home last night and loaded Steph 3 SR1 up and hit the Inj XIE button - and a few hours later ended up having to actually pull the power plug on my machine - Poser blew up and wouldn't CTRL/ALT/DEL. I'm going to try again this evening - kinda frustrating when the figure looks soooo good in the promos. I'm sure it'll work eventually, just taking a long time to do it as all. If you end up updating for the changes in IB please let us know!

Letterworks ( ) posted Wed, 15 December 2004 at 9:28 AM

I didn't have any trouble with Poser freezing, Lon, so I think that should work out. I also used S3 SR1. By the way Khrys here is a close up of Xian, showing the same problem areas, further proof, in my mind, that it's the IB morphs. mike

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Wed, 15 December 2004 at 1:19 PM

How very odd. I'm calling DAZ now to find out exactly what the hell's going on. For now, I'd suggest temporarily setting Xie's face setting at 0 in Xian's morph setting, that should fix the issues on HER face, anyway. Thanks for pointing this out, guys. I'm /really/ annoyed with DAZ over this. I actually got the IB morphs for a friend before they updated, but during the sale, and she had NO problems. How odd.

LonCray ( ) posted Wed, 15 December 2004 at 1:50 PM

Well, I had started Poser this morning and loaded Steph3 and then pushed the Xie Inj button. It's still asking me for various fitinj files - all of which I put in my Character - Xie folder. I'll see when I get home if it loaded everything up. Would Correct Reference be a benefit? BTW, Khrys, I'm sorry to take your thread on this figure and turn it into a discussion on fixing the figure - you've been most helpful in a very public forum and I hope this doesn't hurt sales - your promos are gorgeous!

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Wed, 15 December 2004 at 1:55 PM

Lon, don't worry about it. As for the INJ files, you need to let the ZIP install them in your Runtime folder. If you don't, it'll be looking everywhere for them. If you need to, create a new folder in Libraries and name it 'KBK' and then, inside that folder, create a folder called 'SP'. Move all the stuff in your Character folder to there. You really should install stuff as it is in the ZIP, though, for future reference. :)

LonCray ( ) posted Wed, 15 December 2004 at 2:07 PM

KBK/SP - I can do that. I did let the ZIP install it, but I've been cleaning up my massive Runtime the past month trying to get it back to where Poser didn't truncate names again. My Pose folder was the hardest - but I guess that reorganization didn't do Xie any good. I'll do what you said and thanks again!

Letterworks ( ) posted Wed, 15 December 2004 at 6:17 PM

Khrys I just want everyone to know how hard your are working behind the scenes to help with this problem. I want to be on public record as saying I DO NOT believe this to be a problem with your craftsmanship! I researcehd Xie and your other characters rather throughly before making my purchase and I think your characters are absolutely marvelous! I also have Dhara, who operates with absolutely no problem and is extremely lovely. I certainly would not want this problem to affect your sales, since I truely believe it's only temporary. Mike

I love Xie. Here's what she looked like before DAZ's "upgrade." A really lovely character for a great price.

And IMO, she does look realistically Asian. Lots of Asians have pale skin and pointed chins. Heck, I'm one of them. :-)

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Thu, 16 December 2004 at 6:33 AM

Trav, I'm downloading the OBJ files you sent me, now. I'd have gotten to it earlier, but my body REALLY needed those 13 hours of sleep, apparently. O.o S'what I get for not sleeping well for three days straight. And no, guys, this doesn't seem to be hurting my sales overly much. I'm just glad it seems like something I can actually fix.

Okay, I have the files Trav sent me... And I have a fix for Xie's morph. I'm going to leave it as a seperate INJ file, so that those customers who have issues can just click one extra button and have Xie the way she should be, and that way, if they don't /have/ the issue, it won't cause any problems (unless they try using it). It's not 100% perfect, because the 3rd party morphs have changed, but it's so close I can't tell the difference. And this will teach me to have a product that relies on a 3rd party morph package for ANYTHING but blinking and smiling. ^^; This pic is before...

Well, great news. I've just finished Xian's fix, too, and managed to keep her look highly similar to the original Xian's, which I'm VERY happy about. I'll be making these fixes available in emails to existing customers, and hopefully I can get a staffer to add them to my product ZIP for future customers. Glad to hear she's loading, Lon. :)

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Thu, 16 December 2004 at 8:17 AM

Hello, first, let me thank you for your purchase of my product, Xie. It has been brought to my attention by several customers (Randym77, LonCray, Trav and Movida) that those who recently purchased the Daz3d add-on, International Beauties, are experiencing technical difficulties with the morphs, resulting in lumpy spots under the eyebrows, around the nose and jawline. The reason for this change in your product is quite simple: Daz3d changed the morphs in a previous update that I did not get access to. As such, I have fixed the issue with Xie, and with Xian, and have made them available in one convienient download. Please visit: www.home.earthlink.net/~liuxie/XieXianFix.zip to download the updated files, if you are having issues with Xie's or Xian's face being heavily distorted. To prevent them from overwriting the original files, they are available as a seperate INJ called 'XieHeadFix' and 'XianHeadFix'. Thank you very much for your time, Khrys Christopher Stanley (please note, you need to have Xie for this fix to work in any fashion. Downloading it without the product is tantamount to wasting your bandwidth AND mine.)

Giana ( ) posted Thu, 16 December 2004 at 11:09 AM

i'm curious what update to the IB everyone is talking about?? the update from the Support page on Daz only gave me MAT files for Aiko... i installed the EXE to a folder outside of anything to do with Poser so i could easily see just exactly they were giving me to put on my PC... was there something i missed? :/

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Thu, 16 December 2004 at 11:25 AM

Giana, there was a previous update to the IB files a few... months ago, maybe. It was the same size as the original file, and you had to download it from your account. People who have bought it since late November have been getting the new version with the altered morphs. See, several of the caucasian morphs had a 'dent' in the head, along the 'SkinScalp' material, and a lot of us complained. So apparently DAZ updated the files. I never got the update because I never used those morphs much anyway. Well, they updated them and changed some of the Asian morphs, too, which is what caused the issues with Xie's eyelid area and her flattened out nose.

Giana ( ) posted Thu, 16 December 2004 at 11:28 AM

auh hah!! i did get mine later after the release, so that explains my stupidity :o thanks so much for your time :)) you know, in reading this thread, it strikes me how much some merchants could learn from your excellent customer and product support... kudos to you for not only extremely nice looking products, but for standing by them in every way... my utmost respect to you :))

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Thu, 16 December 2004 at 11:45 AM

Thank you very much, Giana. I figure that if I bought a product and it had these issues, I'd want it fixed, even if it wasn't the merchant's fault. In this case, it is at least partially my own fault, because I didn't download the update like I should have. But, it's fixed, and that's all that matters. I'd like to thank everyone in this thread who's brought their various issues to light, so I could work to correct them.
