Subject: Dynamic Clothing & clothing Props

Does anyone have a step by step simple tutorial on how to get dynamic clothing and clothing props to fit to a figure? Stills only - not animation. New at this and finding it difficult.

Thanks

and it seems to work perfectly. It's the All N Wonder Dress by gypsy rose. I exported the dress as an object, reimported it, clothified it, and it worked. we should make a list of all the clothes that work like this. I should add that this dress doesn't need to be dynamic as it conforms beautifully and has plenty of morphs. However if you need really really realistic clothes for your close up scenes then you could do this.

Check out the tutorials on this by SVDL, HMann and PhilC. All of these will help you woth dynamic stuff. SVDL has some graet free dynamic clothes for V3 as well.

You cannot use dynamic clothing without doing some animation. Even for still images, you must set up a little animation to get the clothes to drape around the figure. Don't worry, it's easy. Download one of the free dynamic dresses at PoserFashion.net. Each one comes with detailed instructions on how to use it, complete with screen shots. Once you've done it a couple of times, you won't need the instructions any more. Where exactly are you running into trouble? Does the simulation (animation) not finish? Does the cloth drape, but not look right?

I found that you can make some conforming clothes work really well as dynamic clothes as in that picture above that I posted. I'm sure there are lots of clothes that I have that would make good dynamic clothes if I knew what I was doing more. Love esther

PhilC has a tutorial on making conforming clothing into dynamic clothing. Basically, it works with any clothes that doesn't have capped ends. (Like the P4 t-shirt - there's no real neck hole. It's solid, so can't be "dynamicized.") But I think Coolbanana needs the basics. He was asking how to use sdvl's dynamic clothing earlier.

There is a good beginners tutorial for using dynamic clothing at the link.

Thanks everyone - I'll give the tutes a try. BTW a simple unrelated question - how do I get two figures onto the same scene. I try the double click but I get the two figures "locked" to each other.

Click on the button that looks like the picture to add figures or conforming clothes to your scene.

That's what I did. The new figure appears on the exactly the same spot the original figure is but I can't seem to seperate it from the existing figure.

It's difficult to answer your question because we don't know what you already know. For now, you could select a figure then use the dials to move each figure along the X axis. Try that and let us know

Use "hip" or "body" to separate the figures (and get rid of the IK before moving anything). Example: load female. load dress. remove any and all IK from both figures. Select the hip of the dress (use mouse or menu under the window). The parameter dials for the hip will show trans for x, y, and z at the bottom of the list. do an x-trans of .300 and see if the dress doesn't go floating off to the side. It should. Then you can move it back and do whatever you were going to do to it. Carolly

Aha! Thanks I'll try this.

You don`t have to remove ik if you select the BODY of the figure to move.
