Subject: No more raytracing?

I recently downloaded the latest beta version of DAZ|Studio for Mac OS X (0.9.12.10) and was dismayed by the absence of a raytracing option in the Render Options dialog.

I never did get the hang of raytracing in DAZ|Studio, which I expected to be similar to that feature in Cinema 4D, but I still would like to be able to make mirror reflections. I hope DAZ didn't permanently remove raytracing from the DAZ|Studio application. Don't tell me to buy Poser 5, because I have neither the money nor the hard drive space.

Raytracing still works - I've done a mirror in the (Windows) new build already. They seem to have greatly simplified the Render options dialogue, I suspect ray tracing is either on for 3Delight all the time or triggered when you use a function (like reflections) that needs it.

From the Daz Forum notes... ************* SKondris: []Version 0.9.12.10 for the MAC has just been released. This build contains several improvements to stability issues, further interface improvements, an animation timeline that supports playback of animations created in Poser, and basic keyframe animation creation. A new version of the 3Delight renderer is included as well. NOTE: Version 0.9.12.10 for the MAC REQUIRES OSX 10.3 or higher in order to use the 3Delight renderer. If you are using an older version of the MAC OSX operating system, you will only be able to use the OpenGL renderer. The 3Delight render will not be installed. ************ It depends whether you have 10.3 OSX in order for raytracing (3Delight) to function.

The documentation mentioned materials "invoking the raytracer..." I believe that the raytracer now comes on automatically if there is anything in the scene that would need it, otherwise it stays off. I have not explored this, though.
