Subject: Need help Ultimate Bed Construction Set

3DNeo ( ) posted Mon, 27 December 2004 at 5:20 PM · edited Mon, 18 November 2024 at 11:09 PM

I recently purchased the Ultimate Bed Construction Set and downloaded the patch for it from Renderosity.com and am having trouble with some things. I've tried it in both Poser 5 and DazStudio for Windows PC, both current versions and Poser 5 patched with latest updates. What happens is I can get the bed frame, a head board or footboard to load into a scene or new blank scene fine, but nothing else works. For example, none of the mattresses, pillows, quilts, etc show up. All I can get to appear are the bed frames. I double checked my install and even did it by hand just to make sure everything was there where it should be. I can find nothing wrong with the install of the Ultimate Bed Construction Set. All the head boards and foot boards show up OK, but nothing else. I can see the options for adding them OK in my content, poses, figures, etc. directories but nothing works except the frame of the bed. Any thoughts on whats going on or why this is not working? I've tried contacting the author via email, but it's the holidays or no one is there to respond. Thanks

Jeff

Hi 3DNeo
Sorry about that- I'm here- you can allways contact me via IM through this site also :)

The steps are.
Don't move ANYTHING!
In a blank scene load all the parts you want to use from the props folder.
In the pose folder are the mat files, pick and choose the textures you want.
When it's all set as you wish it- export as a wave front obj.
Open your scene and inport it- wallaa, you have a welded ready to go single prop :)

As far as the matress ect. Did you load the '!Main Body' prop?

This is the first I've heard of this problem in all the time we've sold it. The main download should be installed first then the additions and updates overtop.

Are you on a Mac?

Hello, Thanks for the quick reply. First, I'm using a Windows XP PC, 2.3 GHZ AMD, 2 GIG of Corsair XMS Pro (2,2,2,5) memory, 2 WD 74 GIG Raptors in Raid 0, 1 Maxtor 300 GB drive dedicated to Poser files and content. Second, I tried your outline above, but it didn't help. I'll admit I'm new and just starting out in the Poser world. I didn't know to export it as you mentioned in "obj" format so I missed that step. However, even following the advice in your post, the same thing happened. Third, I have some more details for you on what's happending. When I examine the contents of my Scene, I find the matt files are not there and it won't load any of them in. The scene has the !Main Body prop, Matress SP and Quilt SP. When I look at the details for each of them, I get "Matress_1" for the matress SP, "Quilt_1" for Quilt SP and "assembled bed main" for "Main Body". None of the bed matts will show up in the scene even though they are visible in the "Bed Matts" folder in the Pose directory. After a scene is exported as is, all I get is the head board and/or footboard and that's it. In fact, the head board isn't even in color or detailed when imported back into a scene. All of the color is in white and no detail at all. Any thoughts here? I've tried everything I know. Also, it was installed as you said with the main Ultimate Bed Set first, then the 6MB update on top of it overwriting the updated files. Thanks for helping and the support, I'll make sure to note the customer service because I only buy from good guys like you. :)

Hi Neo (yeah, I noted the nick when you bought it, heheh) Is your texture folder in RuntimeTexturesBed textures? I have to admit- your stumping me. I'm going to post a link in the merchants forum- see if anybody has any ideas. We WILL figure this out!

So when you load the '!Main Body' you can't see it at all? and when you exported it was there also a mtl file?

It's been suggested that maby the main object file is corrupted- Have you reinstalled the obj into the geometry folder?

"Is your texture folder in RuntimeTexturesBed textures? " Yes, it is. "So when you load the '!Main Body' you can't see it at all? " That's correct. It does show up as being added in the scene list as stated, but nothing is displayed. "and when you exported it was there also a mtl file?" Yes, both an ".obj" and "mtl" file were created. Inside the original .zip folder was the runtime/libraries/character/Beds folder. I re-copied it by hand in case it was corrupt. When I add the main body to a new scene, I can see the object selected as only a highlight where it should be, but not the actual object. In DazStudio, it appears as a selected object type circle for you to move, etc, but nothing appears there. Thanks, still trying to figure it out too. I'm new to Poser and this has been a good learning tool if nothing else. :) Hopefully we will find the answer.
