It is June 1944 and this is Omaha Beach. What lies over the hill? How many of the enemy are there? Is this Saving Private Ryan or will you have your own story to tell?

Technical notes: Model includes two landing craft, both with ERC controls for the ramp cabling, working doors, steering wheels and hatches. The waves are pre-animated using a supplied pose file if you are an animator. The beach obstacles are body parts, and can be made invisible if you don't want them.

EAP system: The entire model is one figure. This means that the landing craft are part of the model, and you move them using the dials. You can move them left and right, forwards and back, and you can turn them. You cannot move them into the sky (they aren't airborne ships, after all) and you can't move them off the map. If you don't want them, just make them invisible.

Once you hit the beach I suggest you and your fellow soldiers make for the ruined house on the left. It won't provide much cover, but there is something far worse waiting if you go to the right.

Technical notes: The ruined house is highly detailed and textured, and can take close up renders. The ladder and drum can be moved, once again with the EAP system.

If you and your fellow soldiers are brave enough, or stupid enough, to have taken the right hand option, you would have faced the gun emplacement, machine gun nests and an entire trench system.

Technical notes: The gun can turn and elevate, the doors on the ammo can open and close, and the drum can be moved. The roof can also be made invisible for easier setting up of figures. The model includes many camera files using the dolly camera, and there is a small tutorial included with the model to show you some easier ways of using a model of this size.

The trench system has areas for mortars, machine gun posts and the large bunker can be used as a barracks or command centre. it's roof can also be made invisible to provide easier access to the inside.

Technical notes: Detailed textures means you can zoom in and render close up shots, as the model uses a unique texturing system that allows high detail with low texture use. The method is similar to tiling, but allows variation in the tiling to prevent the square effect that tiling sometimes produces. This model is massive, but uses the same amount of textures as a high-res Vicky 3 with a set of clothes would use. I will post some close up shots to show the texture detail tomorrow.

Tune in tomorrow to see the rest of the model. (Seriously, this is only half of it.)

Looks like an awesome project. I was hoping you guys were going to release that assault boat. I'll have to keep an eye on your site...I love WW2 models.

Wow, amazing response to the project. Anyway, over the hill is a railway line, and as with all railway lines, you need a rail siding office.

And you need a coutry farm house. Four moving doors, 11 moving shutters, interior and exterior textures.

And we need a farmyard. The barn has two levels, moving doors, and the farmyard gate moves as well.

And last but not least, your soldiers need a mission, and your mission will be to destroy this. The Leopold railgun, a gun powerful enough to shell England across the channel.

There will be some free add-on packs for the model as well, but I won't spoil the surprises yet.

Anybody else interested in the model? Or the project?

Ok, the model is available here.

We have submitted to rendo and PoserPros, but I don't know how long that will take to clear. Is the price OK?

Sandpope, I will try and get this finished and uploaded it by tomorrow this time. This is not the final thing, just to give you a taster (still needs some texture work). It's a free add-on, and has a tunnel entrance for each end of the track.

And a Vue 4 render. Still not finished, but it's getting there. There will be another three add-ons for this, but I won't spoil the suprise just yet.
