Hi there,

I'm a newbie to Poser, and I'm working on an exercise manual. I want to illustrate a sequence of related body positions. I got the first one (attached) but now I want to bend the model's knees so that her legs form a diamond shape (knees apart, soles of feet together). I figure this must be possible, but none of the leg body parts seem to get me where I want to go.

Suggestions?

Thanks so much,

griffen

Switch off IK. They'll bend then.

First, thank you to samtherapy. Bnetta, if you go to the Figure pull down menu while the appropriate body part is selected (like a thigh, if you want to affect the leg's IK attributes) then you'll be able to select Use Inverse Kinematics. griffen

You're welcome. You don't need to select the appropriate body part, BTW. Just the model itself. IK can be useful some of the time but mostly it's a huge pain in the arse.

I put on character on a bicycle and it worked great for getting the feet positioned perfectly on the peddles. Bout the only time I have actually found IK to be a help rather than a hinderance.

Ik is very good for animation and some posing.

You might also want to check out Karen1573's yoga pose set in the MarketPlace. They may be different or more extreme than you are using for this exercise program, but they might also be good starting points. Worth a look. Carolly

Hi Carolly, Thanks for the heads up. I checked 'em out, and they're quite nice, but I seem to be managing ok by using the existing poses already included with the program. That IK tip really changed everything. I did like the clasped hands especially on some of Karen's poses, although they weren't especially applicable for Pilates movements, which is what I'm doing. griffen
