Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 11 3:50 am)
Also, it's not always the case that both sides are the same. they may look the same but may have one or two polys done differently depending on the mesh. Whenever you have exploding geometry, it usually means that somewhere along the way your model's verts got re-numbered from the way they originally were. The count will be the same but the positions will all be wrong. Exporting the OBJ from Poser might change vertex order. This happens alot when you weld seams during export from Poser. Also the order may change on import to your modeler of choice.
One more thing...I'd highly suggest getting "Secrets Of Figure Creation With Poser 5 - including Poser3, 4 and ProPack". It covers this and other potential Poser or modeling problems. To test if it's WINGS giving you the trouble: Export the part from Poser and load it back in as a morph. If the model explodes, then it's Poser re-numbering. If it doesn't, load the model into WINGS and then export it out without doing anything else to it. Load this back into Poser as a morph. If it explodes, it's WINGS causing the problem. This is really more of a Poser releated question than a WINGS one, so I'm moving the post on over to the Poser forum.
Wings renumbers automatically on autosave. It's enough to drive one bonkers. That said, the workaround I've used is to disable autosave, then import the entire mesh into wings, export it again, and then "turn off" the parts I'm not working on for the morphs in wings for clarity and speed. As I complete each morph, I export the parts individually. hasn't failed me yet. Also, morph mirror is essential for doing the left to right side cloning. Really cool little utility.

what!?! I might actually have helped for once? Oh, crap. Don't tell pakled, please! He'll be asking me to join the union, and I am sooo not a closed shop person...

nah..I woudn't get da boyz out on dis one..bats are in the shop..;) I'm so far below actually Posing Wings models in Poser, I couldn't object (did anyone have luck with my #5 model?..hadn't heard anything..;) Hey, I'm in a right-to-work state, so the locals' pretty easy about thangs..;)
I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

When I make a morph for a part of a poser figure, lets say the RIGHT arm, why cant I just duplicate and flip the morph to use it for the LEFT arm, too ? Happened to me several times now: First exported a body part from Poser and then moprhed it. Exported it to Poser and everythings fine. But when I duplicate, flip and transfer the morph to its correct position, even though Poser accepts this mirrored morph, the body part literally "explodes" once I apply it. Its a bit akward having to make morphs for each side even though both geometries are just mirror images of each other (Like left leg/right leg), so what is causing this and is there a way to fix it ? (Maybe in UV-mapper ?) Thanks in advance, stahlratte
