Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 23 8:11 am)
muralist, they basically don't exist, certainly not if you want authenticity. I have seen a couple of Azteca city and pyramid props, but as I recall they were quite old, strangely scaled, and intended for AutoCAD. But you clearly have the skills to do the architecture on your own. Poserworld has an "Aztec dancer" outfit for Posette, but it's a costume of the sort that you see at Cinco de Mayo celebrations, not historically accurate. DAZ has the "Woodland Defenders" fantasy costumes, a polyglot of influences there, but not accurate to any particular group. The shoulder feathers (for M2 and V2) might be acceptable as Quetzal ceremonial finery, however. As regards character creation, you'll probably have to combine or modify existing brown-toned skin textures too look Mexica. Morphing body and head for accuracy is beyond my means, but I was once able to do a fairly reasonable job using M3's existing morphs. If you can accept related-but-not-quite-accurate details, Sekhmet has some wonderful Mayan jars in Renderosity Freestuff. There are "Southwestern" pottery items for free at RDNA. Both could be re-textured with Aztec motifs for verisimilitude. Some items relating to the culture, feathers, corn, grains, cacti, loincloths, axes, jaguars, chilis, etc. are available at various sites, but not really presented in Aztec context. I think that what you'll have to do is mix'n'match whatever almost-Aztec components you can find. If someone else can help with more specifics here, that'd be great, but the fact is that I've scoured the Poser universe for Aztec related itmes for over a year, never really finding anything. I hope that you will let us see the project you're working on. It sounds fascinating, and frankly, difficult.

This is a long shot, but you might also want to post this on the Wishing Well Forum in case there is someone out there interesting in creating this kind of item, and is looking to see if there is any interest. Just a thought. And thank you for the subject heading that describes exactly what you need...that is wonderfully helpful on the forum. :)Attached Link: http://www.poserpros.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=18647&highlight=aztec
I believe Dolly was working on an Aztec project, but I dont know what ever became of it....here is a thread post at Poser Pros WIP forumAttached Link: http://ggsposerjunction.net/poserjunction_downloads.html
GG's Poser Junction has a "Mayan" king crown. Don't know if it would work for what you want, or even if it is accurate.Rawnrr, thanks for the link to Dolly's thread. Wow! Not only is that outfit-in-progress great, but her facial morphing is appropriate, too. I just wrote to her, asking if it'll be a sale item. I sure hope so. mateo, of course you're correct, but there are enough existing depictions of ceremony that you could at least have some idea of basic still postures to start with. Sadly true that so would be educated conjecture. The "conquest" is one of the most horrifying heartbreakers of human history.

Where are authentic Aztec characters, poses, props, and motion files? I am interested in files based on real sources, not characters given feathers and called "Aztec." I've built a .3ds model of the Templo Mayor at Tenochtitlan and am now populating and animating that great capital.
