Subject: Vue Forum?

Is there actually a forum on the Vue site? Each time I try to click my browser refuses to go, somthing about redirect limit. (Firefox) IE just ran & ran & never came up.

There is a Vue forum, but the way to go there is rathe quirky. You must first log on to the site - NOT the forum! - then you can go to Community. I use IE too, redirect after redirect after redirect (IE doesn't have a redirection limit) if I'm not logged on. Remembering passwords in IE is not something I like to do, but it's the only way to go to the Vue forum directly. They should redesign the site.

I'm running Firefox. I just go to the e-on site, click on Support, Then on Registered User forums under Technical Support, log in and you are there. You might check your browser settings - you may have your security set too high.

yaa if you are using IE you want the security set to high !! LOL I'd highly recommend geting mozilla/firefox.. better and safer. as to the actual subject here, it is kinda quirky but if you do like Svdl, and/or Lingrif said, you'll find it with no problem

The last time I used tech support at e-on, I couldn't use Mozilla. I had to use IE to post my question. I don't know exactly why (active-x?), but Mozilla just hung-up after I pressed one of the buttons (contact technician) at their site.

Hmm. I also used Firefox to post to tech support a while back - right after vue5 came out. It worked fine then. I did hear they were having trouble with the tech support site in general a few weeks ago - but it got straightened out. Maybe you just hit a bad time :-(

Just had a flashback - I used to get those multiple redirects when I was running Zone Alarm - had to turn it off to get into the forum.

I've been trying for over a week. With and without Zone Alarm. With IE and with Firefox. Can't get in. I just ordered Vue Pro 4, they forgot to put the state in my address :(

try erasing your cache, then it should work, I believe cookies have to be on also

Well, it doesn't work for me either. And it never has, at least for the last year or so. I've tried several browsers, different computers, tried shutting down both software and hardware firewalls, but no joy. :( Opera, my browser of choice, continuously switches between "request queued for sending to secure.e-onsoftware.com" and "request queued for sending to www.e-onsoftware.com" for at least 6 minutes and then just stops trying. IE repeats this sequence: redirect to not secure - secure - secure - redirect to not secure - secure - secure - ... Firefox - clean install without imported cookies/info - shows the already mentioned redirect limit message. Seems like some misconfiguration on e-on's part, because I never have such problems on any other site. Time to let e-on know through one of those annoying support forms? ;)

You have to be a registered user to access their forum, I believe. If that is not the problem, I have had the following occur with other programs. If, for example, I typed in the incorrect registration number, it didn't want to ever accept the correct one. I have never had a problem with the Vue forum on e-on's site. I use IE 6 on all my machines and can access it from anyone. I don't know if this is helpful, but IE 6 has always workd for me.

fresh install DOESN'T erase your browser cache I had this same problem with another site a long time ago,... you have to find your browsers cache, preferances, anything to do with it.. (i do a full search for the product name and the MAKER! also) and throw it in the trash, then restart your computer... you can't just use the "clean/delete" inside the browser.. Since you're using opera i'm assuming you are on a mac... I haven't used it for some years since firefox/mozilla is free and just as good.. but that's all a personal choice, I do like the way opera looks these days.. are you using a G4? where you can start up in OS 9? see if it works with netscape? also.. make sure cookies are turned on 100%, no limits... there was something else but i can't remember what it was.. I can tell you it's on your end.. not thiers.. throw me the computer info and your network/IP setups and maybe It'll refresh my memory on exactly how i fixed it

I use MSIE 6 and no problems with the Vue forum. You do have to be a registered user. I do this: Go to their home page > Click "Support" > Click "Registered User Forums" and there are 2 fora (One for Vue 4 Pro and one or all else). Agree that it's not as obvious as it should be.

jasminet ( ) posted Sun, 23 January 2005 at 7:29 AM

Okay, some more info to clarify: I am a registered user, can log in to my account and can get to the updates. However, I cannot get to the registered user forums. Not when I'm already logged in, and not when I log in right after clicking "Registered User Forums". What I meant by a clean install of Firefox was that it never had been installed before and I did not let it import any bookmarks/history from Opera/IE. So there should not be anything cached to confuse Firefox. I've tried on both XP Pro SP2 with Sygate Personal Firewall (on/off) and 98SE with ZoneAlarm (on/off), and with the firewall turned off in my Draytek router/modem - built-in modem so no way to take that out of the equation. Although it doesn't really make sense that I can log in and then not get to the forums. I should just try it on someone else's pc, and I will if I remember, but it's not that important with these fine forums at Renderosity. :) But I'm open to any suggestions, because I am rather curious to find out what the solution to this problem is...

thomllama ( ) posted Sun, 23 January 2005 at 8:24 AM

Ok let's try this. see if you can get to them by direct link? http://www.e-onsoftware.com/Support/Forum/index.php?st=1106490175 does that work? also.. try signing in to your acct there before you use the link.. copy paste it into your browser once on e-on's site..

didn't work for me

hodad66 ( ) posted Mon, 24 January 2005 at 6:19 PM

Well, all this time I was registered (had an account) but the magic was registering the new Vue 5 I got today.... now I can get into the forums.... Thanks all!!

jasminet ( ) posted Wed, 02 February 2005 at 5:47 AM

Thanks for that information hodad66, and sorry for almost hijacking your thread ;) OK, I can access the forums now as well!!! :) For anyone not able to get in: Being "registered" does not seem to be enough. You need to be a "registered registered user" of at least Vue 4. Registering version 2 and 3 was, at least in my case, not enough. Seems odd to have such forum restrictions, and then not communicate them clearly. I would have expected at least an explanation on trying to access the forums, not a redirection or time-out error. BTW, this problem is not specific to my computer, I've since tried elsewhere as well. But it may be necessary to clear your cookies if you've tried logging in with a dummy account (and perhaps if you have several registered users using the same pc). Otherwise the same time-out problem arises, even with the account that previously worked. Thank you all for your help.
