Subject: Gel Projection

Hello, Is it possible in Poser 5 to project a bitmap or animation(or gif anim) with a light source? I would like to, for instance, project a water caustics image on some underwater figures to give that look of water surface waves on the props and/or figures. Does the image need to be a particular size or resolution? Transparent colors etc.? I haven't seen anything in the manual.

Since a stationary mask or filter works with ordinary spotlites, you can use one that's a very long rectangle, and move it across the front of the lite. Of course, it would be much better to use an animated transparency as texture, but I don't know if it works.

Just plug the gel straight into the colour channel of your light material.

Note: for animation you'll need a movie node instead of a tile node. Resolution is no problem, but I think you need the animation in avi format. I don't think animated gifs are supported.
