Subject: Rendering Weirdness

This is weird! I have changed the texture of a wall from brick to stucco but the rendered image shows the non-selected brick texture. (It may actually be showing both textures, with the stucco showing through faintly - I can't be sure.) Q1. How can the render show a texture that isn't selected and which doesn't show in display mode? Q2. How can I delete redundant textures from the RenderMaterialsTexture-Map drop-down menu?

you can delete loaded textures only by restarting poser I placed the same question a few weeks ago, there seems to be no other posibility. first question : no idea, never had it before maybe the first texture has a bumpmap that you didnt switch off??

You've got it! It was the bump map. Thanks a lot. As for deleting redundant textures, re-starting Poser doesn't do this, does it? I've restarted a hunded times and still have unwanted textures listed in the menu. Have I misunderstood? Anyway, thanks again.

The textures listed when you first launch Poser are applied to the default figure, any that you add will be gone when you restart. In other words, delete all figures and props, save that as a default and when you relaunch you should only see Ground Default Texture (or something like that).

OK, many thanks. I'll try that. The textures do clutter up after a while.

Well, it doesn't work for me. Where have I gone wrong? I opened my scene, a room. The walls were brick textured from the last session. I loaded stucco to replace the brick, saved, and closed. When next I opened the scene it was stucco-textured all right but the brick was still listed in the menu. I would like to trim the menu.

It's hard for me to know if that is a good test. You might have had the brick texture applied to the preview, for instance. This would be a good test: Open Poser -- delete all objects and figures -- go Edit/General Preferences/Set Preferred State -- Quit and relaunch Poser -- go to Render/Materials and click on the Textures popup. I predict the Ground Default Texture will be there 'cause you can't delete the Ground. Then load an untextured object or figure, apply [stucco] and Save, Quit, relaunch, etc.

lmaken (spelling?), thanks, it works. I'll spend some time figuring out why -- but what matters is that it works. My thanks to you, and to all others who have leaped in to provide help and learning.
