Subject: Vicki is she that good?

I am starting to think that "Vicki" is not that great. I have her, but I find I can do more with "Posette" than with "Vicki". Let me know your opinion.

Shadownet: You've got that right! Let's try for about 20 inches of responses here. As Vicky's self-appointed guardian, all I can say nyguy is look around on the internet, especially on Renderosity. There's tons of great stuff here for free & many good variations of Vicky by Handspan Studios, Jaager & Mehndi's Saluda, Jim Burton's Super Model Vicky & others. At Morph World, Jaager has his own section with quite a few morph packages available for Vicky. Renapd has some characters at Fairwoods. Don't think that Michelangelo didn't squawk about what a pain sculpting was at the end of the day when his eyes & lungs were full of marble dust, but that didn't stop him, did it?. The default Vicky is not that great to look at, I agree, but give her a break & wait until you see what a professional can do with all those polygons before you pack her away to CyberLimbo.

Well...not that I qualify as an expert on Vicki.. I am still relatively new to Poser period... I have her and someday may work with her.. but honestly?? She will never have the body of the poser 4 posettes... narrow hips and big waist shrugs and dodges the bullets Guess I would qualify as one who doesn't think she's worth it :) (for what it's worth.. LOL)

I must admit that I too am among the disillusioned. Afer shelling out good money for Vicki, I have gone back to reliable old Posette and Eve. Saluda, too, was more than a little disapointing. In a pinch, give me a good old fashioned American crotch.

I like her. I use possette some since she is smaller to work with and since she is younger looking and here is use for that but I like vicki's versitilty and I don't think she is ugly. I happen to like wide shoulders and the hip morphs are there to fix those pretty much.

This is just one of the many ways that Vicky can appear if someone who owns the figure want to spend just a small amount of time morphing & rescaling the figure. There is nothing fundamentally ugly or unpleasant about the figure. It's just that the default form is, admitedly, pretty terrible. But where are the big hips & shoulders in this girl? I think she's fine!

Jabe, unfortunately Vicki and all of her "sisters" take an advanced skill level to work with it seems, and practise is what makes perfect. Even with the various newly morphed characters of Vicki, such as the free ones, all of Handspans, Jim Burton's wonderful Supermodel Vicki, my own Saluda, if you do not know how to work with Vicki, you will be just as disappointed in these. Working with Vicki was a cinch for some of us I guess, since Vicki used approximately the same joint and pose setup as Eve did, and we were happily working with Eve. I will tell you though, when I first got my hands on Eve I almost gave up, and then the same with Vicki. I felt as if I had taken the wrong pill and fallen through Alice's rabbit hole. Practise practise... read all the posts you can on Vicki, go through here and use the search feature to search for the word Vicki, get in touch with the creators of your products and ask them how to get good results. And so on :) As Saluda's creator I am curious what you found disappointing in her, and encourage you to send me email at mehndi_studios@hotmail.com since my customers happiness and satisfaction not only matters on current products, but influences how I develop the next.

Incidently, this is what Super Model Vickie looks like out of the box. The hard part is getting her in the box, she keeps climbing out! Unlike regular Vickie, she is pretty much a one-trick pony, though, only 4 chest morphs and one butt morph for the body, while regular Vickie has a lot more, and is a lot more adaptable. The down side of regular Vickie's changeability is the clothing will not fit without some work, though, while SMV is intended as a"this is the right proportions, fit the clothing to this" standard.

Hi Drag-Queen!- I've been accused of doing texture maps that make Vickie (and the Posette, above) look just like you-know-what, so I toned down the one that comes with SMV. ;) Sorry about getting so far off the tread, glad we don't have the "Message Police" around, like some other forum I know!
