Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 10 10:34 am)
Cinema 4D. This innovative plug-in allows Cinema 4D users to render and playback Poser animations.
Is this what you are refering too? You should be able to if you have the plugin.
Shader Translation! BodyStudio translates your Poser shaders to Cinema 4D Shading Networks, and assigns them to the correct polygons on your characters. For easy transition, all of the base Poser shading parameters are translated into Cinema 4D Shaders. including: o Object Color o Highlight Color o Ambient Color o Reflective Color o Color Maps o Transparency Maps o Transparency Min, Max, and Exponent o Bump Maps o Reflection Maps o and More! I'd say that's a big yes to your question. :) Message edited on: 02/05/2005 23:19
Sorry, I don't see this as a real proof. There is on one hand the set of applied materials, bitmaps of skin etc, and the specific settings for highlights, bump, etc. But the complete nodes system? Math nodes, variable nodes, raytrace nodes, 3D texture nodes? I can't say "no, it can't", but I would love to read an affirmation and see what it really can. With examples. Because kuroyume's Interposer can also import all material settings (not the shaders I mentioned in the ltd version) and it costs less than 25% on Reiss Bodystudio. When later this year the por version will be out, it will be able to do more than BS. I find the price tag of Bodystudio way too high. My opinion of course. (wasn't there something about those exports being free when P5 was about to be released?)
I have tried prudent planning long enough. From now I'll be mad. (Rumi)
I have BodyStudio for 3dsmax. It's most likely the same for C4D. Anyway, it does transfer full animations from Poser to Max, including dynamic hair and cloth. It also transfers all materials EXCEPT for raytrace and displacement. It will transfer reflection maps, transparency maps, etc. But it doesn't translate all the special P5 nodes like alt diffuse, raytrace reflections/refractions and translucency. However, since the materials are brought over as multi-subobject materials, it's easy to add your own raytrace properties in the host application.

I'm getting this info from the link I've included. Does this mean that Bodystudio allows Cinema4d to render scenes/animations even with all Poser 5 materials or does "shaders" mean something else? Anyone here have experience using Bodystudio? Thanks, Fin
