they do work, you just have to keep them clicked and move your mouse around. the first is the hardness of the brush, the second is something else, it's whatchamacall it, try it out, same deal with the mouse. drac (forgetful)

I believe the second control you have circled functions rather like the flow control on PS brushes.

Yeah like if you have the first one over hard right it gives you a really hard line. Almost ditto with second, if you put it over hard right you get a straight line, tend to the left like I do you get a really soft flow.......much easier to build up a really nice terrain. The morale here is go to the left...its much softer and more true to life. Sorry about that folks...its Sunday evening here and I am leaning to the left, in fact with the alcohol intake I guess I am just leaning.

The greatest part of wisdom is learning to develop  the ineffable genius of extracting the "neither here nor there" out of any situation...."

Thanks Folks, I knew what they were for, just could'nt get them to move. Had another go after reading your replies and discovered that the Hardness was already max'd out on the soft side(left drag=hard, right=soft) got it all sussed now. Cheers 8) GG.

While you are experimenting, try running Paintshop or Photoshop at the same time! In editing tools you can select 'photograph' then 'copy'-minimise bryce and 'paste' as a new image into PSP. These programs give much better tools for dealing with a greyscale image - make any alterations - copy and paste back to terrain editor. Works for me! Jed.

Just a little hint. . . . Instead of moving the little red dot up and down to control the painted grey level. . . . Try holding down the spacebar while moving the mouse around in the editing window. When you find the level that you need . . .release the mouse button.
