Subject: New material need *.pz2 & Co ?

Hello, I am doing my first texture and I went to test it on Poser. It is a texture for mertail. First I opened Room Material and just assigned my pic, replacing the original have there. My pic shows on Room Material, but when render is not applied on mertail. Exploring a bit more, I found the mertail material have 3 files: png, pz2 and rsr, so when you choose one on library it goes to his place. So, I think I have to do a png, pz2 and rsr for my texture. Its right? If so, how I can do it? Thank you very much in advance, aniela

If you do .pz2 by hand or using MAT Pose Edit, it should just do the same what you try to do in Material Room - apply texture to the tail. Png is a preview miniature picture used by P5 and P4PP, .rsr is the same but for P4 so you don't need it in P5. Those three (.pz2, .png and .rsr) are not mertail materials, but files need to load the texture from library, not by hand. As for first question, I don't know, I use P4 and to test/apply texture I just go to Render > Material, load texture with "apply texture to all parts" and it always works.

You don't need MAT files, if this is for your own use. (MAT files and thumbnails are expected for products that will be sold.)

Make sure you are applying the texture to all the parts of the tail. If it still doesn't render, it's probably just the Poser 5 memory bug. Save your file after applying your texture, then restart Poser. The texture should then render properly.

You were right. I had to apply it to ALL parts. Is the first time I do that so I didn't know have to check each part. I think if I have mat files with right settings (my map/material) that will not happens.

Thank you very much for your help

This is not the first time that the MAT Pose hack has bit us in the rear. Poser was designed with a Materials Room where the user could apply and alter materials. That worked great for years (still works great). But someone had the bright idea of making a modified pose file that instead of moving limbs, would change textures. Since then there's been a growing body of users who either don't know that you can apply a material manually, or don't want to.

In fact, when applying material the pic you see is the whole one. So, is natural you think it is applied as you see: by complet. Only your pic shows the material is not applied over all parts, even before you render. Fortunaly, I had only 3 parts on mertail. I confess I was afraid to forget some part because I have everything on my scenic listed there.
