Subject: ATT Katherine!! Pre-ordered Poser 6 but couldn't get proper discount

SimonWM ( ) posted Tue, 22 February 2005 at 1:45 PM · edited Fri, 10 January 2025 at 4:27 AM

I'm one of the people who pre-ordered Poser 5 as soon as it was available. I tried e-mailing Katherine thru Renderosity and also e-mailed Curious Labs to get the $79.00 upgrade offer but since I didn't got a reply on time I went ahead and ordered yesterday at the regular price, not the special for Poser 5 first month pre-orders. Today my Visa Debit Card shows a hold of $123.60 (UPS 2nd day--aprox $13.00). I haven't received a reply from Katherine but I'm hoping she will be able to change my order to reflect the proper pricing.

Similar problem. Got the special coupon after odering...and now the order must be changed.

sekhet ( ) posted Tue, 22 February 2005 at 2:05 PM

Me too, and I have`nt been able to cancel my order to change it. E-mailed customer service yesterday but no reply yet

Same here, ordered before the 15% thing came through, hope they fix it before it ships and they charge the card. Guess I'll never learn...lol Marque

I sent Katherine IM here on Rendoristy on Friday, she got back to me the same day emailed me my promo code on Monday.. and I ordered P6 same day... Try sending Kathrine an IM... she got back to me in a few hours... If you are reading this... Thanks Katherine for the prompt service.... great Job!!!

kuroyume0161 ( ) posted Tue, 22 February 2005 at 3:57 PM

Remember the alamanos! ;) Wait, I sent Katherine two IMs last week. I haven't heard a peep. Should I just sell my copies of Poser 4/PP/5 Windows, Poser 4/PP/5 MacOS, Shade Std, and be done with this mess? If Katherine is swamped, but can take care of one person in a few hours, but others are still waiting days and days later, what's the beef? This is getting to be frustrating... I can always throw a select bit of Japanese to e-Frontier. ;)

Sorry for sounding like a prude, but, as I'm reading thru these messages, I noticed a few things:

  1. I'm hoping you, Simon, meant Poser 6 and not Poser 5 in your first topic message. I went ahead and ordered yesterday at the regular price, not the special for Poser 5 first month pre-orders

  2. The amount of $123.60 is the amount for the 2nd day shipment of the POSER 6 SE. The initial $79 is unknown. I never seen a price for that for the preorder of P6 SE, or any other P6 related purchase (perhaps you're all special :) ). My order, as of Sunday the the 20th, 8:37PM EST, is $120.60 with USPS Priority shipping.

  3. For a better response and action about that nasty little happening, best to call 1-800-656-5426. Katherine, as far as I can assume, only deals in the sales of Curious Labs, NOT the transactions. The mentioned toll free number (for US residents only) is a direct line to the Digital River company, in which handles the orders. They handled my cancellation (I no longer wanted to purchase by check because I didn't want it immediatly cashed) with no problems. Very nice people. Immediate help.

Good luck.

So what email address did you use? I got the letter too. But no matter what link I chose, it took me to a website with a different price. I went ahead and ordered it. I thought maybe I had missed out and that special price. Like I had to order it that day or something, but that wasn't how I read the letter originally. I still have the letter and tried to copy it and send it to one of the contact emails I found on their website. Couldn't find an address that seemed exactly appropriate though. And the letter never seemed to go anyway. It just kept trying and trying to contact, until I just gave up and closed the window. Sometimes when that happens, the letter seems to go anyway. Maybe even several times, if I click more than once. (I did!) But since I never heard back , I assume not.

Yes I meant Poser 6 not 5. I think you can deduce its a typo from the rest of my message (wish there was an edit button). The $79.00-$89.00 is a special price for people who preordered Poser 5 the first month it was available for pre-order. I think I must have ordered the first day it was announced in this forum that Curious Labs was taking pre-orders for Poser 5.

FuneralLaugh ( ) posted Wed, 23 February 2005 at 7:15 AM

You did it again, buddy. :)
Poser 5 Poser 5.
It's been quite awhile since they released a new one, I can see why you have version 5 on the brain.

But, I would just want to remind everyone again, if you still have issues with the promo that you all have been getting, to please call the toll free number that I had found. The reps are easy to speak with. The second guy I spoke with handled a situation (that I wrote about in a topic I created here, which seems to have gotten off course) very respectfully and without question. I just explained the situation and he deleted my order reguarding an order I placed via check. I couldn't cancel the order to create a new one on the storefront due to the fact I had placed the order past 24 hours.

If you guys were promised a great deal of around $80 and you are being charged the 15% cut of $109, give them a call, and I'm sure they can work around this to give you what you want, as long as you have the promo code given to you.

SimonWM ( ) posted Wed, 23 February 2005 at 8:52 AM

"as long as you have the promo code given to you." That's the thing, people who pre-ordered POSER FIVE years ago the first month it was available for preordering get the $80.00 offer for the upgrade to POSER SIX. I was one of those first who pre-ordered POSER FIVE the first day or week and never received the e-mail with the promo code for POSER 6.

FuneralLaugh ( ) posted Wed, 23 February 2005 at 9:03 AM

Well... that indeed sucks. But, still, shouldn't complain about the 109 offer. Still a good deal. Me, on the other hand, am just gonna wade it out. Yeah, I should take the offer, but, I'm gonna wait for patches to be put into place and buy it when they offer P6 as a bundle with some other proggies. I've gotten replies to just do it now and not install it until at least SR's available and take the offer, but then, CL usually has some nifty lil' bundles at very good costs later on down the line. This doesn't at all reflect anything negative towards CL. I just think it's best until I can figure out a few more things in P5 and buy a new graphics card (6600GTOC or WCVP990). Best of luck to you guys on getting this straightend out.

I e-mailed Katherine days ago and still no response. Alamanos, you were really lucky!

Wombat ( ) posted Wed, 23 February 2005 at 5:12 PM

I think there is much work for her. Got message telling me to cancel the preorder and order new with given code. Well...but the shop tell me: You can cancel order only the first day... Thomas

What a mess! (or, in the famous words of Betty Davis, "What a dump!") ;0) Digital River (and I'm guessing that most of this is being caused by them, a little more by EgiSys) has caused such a mess. People are unable to order with valid SNs, unable to complete the order afterwards, unable to get discounts, unable to cancel, getting charged upfront, getting all sorts of spurious messages, no receipts, no upgrade offers, no notifications. This is pathetic (and DR specializes in handling online product purchases!!!) If there is nothing forthcoming soon, I will end up waiting about six months and getting it at Amazon for $99. Less hassle...

I think that problems are easy to solve...if one really want it.

I was not happy with the preorder/early buy for Poser 5...you should know the reasons, so I will not again discuss them here.

Yet it start other way with Poser 6 again. I'm sure I will not do a preorder or early order with Poser 7. Next time I will wait some months like you said.

Why I've done it this time? Well, OpenGL...sometimes I have characters that I can not normal move on screen. Scene too complicated maybe. I hope it will be better with OpenGL then. It costs me too much nerves how it is actually.

Grrrr I start thinking that totally cancel the order and wait could be a better solution.

sekhet ( ) posted Fri, 25 February 2005 at 8:46 AM

I just got a customer support about trying to cancel my order. This is what it says. A request has been submitted to cancel shipment of your order. In some cases, we are unable to do so, as orders are processed for shipment immediately upon completion and no changes can be made. If this order is unable to be cancelled, you will be notified in the form of a Shipping Notification email. If your order was unable to be cancelled and you would like a refund, you may refuse delivery of the shipment. If your order is delivered, and you wish to return it for credit, reply to this message as soon as your order arrives requesting a refund. Once we have received your refund request we will provide you with instructions to for receiving a refund. Thank you for contacting the online store's Customer Support. If you have any further questions or concerns, please "reply" to this e-mail. Sincerely, Kevin P. Customer Care Center Sounds like Ill have to wait untill it ships to find out if is been canceled or not. That means I either dont get to use the coupon, or I don`t get the special edition, or even both. I wish Katherine would come by and read this, but there is probably nothing she could do for us at this point anyway.

FuneralLaugh ( ) posted Fri, 25 February 2005 at 9:04 AM

Another way for you to find out (over the remainder period of time until release) is check on your order number status. Mine says, in the lines of: "service rep cancelled per request".

sekhet ( ) posted Fri, 25 February 2005 at 10:25 AM

Finally got it straightened out. Called customer service on the phone, my order was canceled, reordered with the discount code. Didnt get the extra discount for ordering before Tues. but cant have everything. At least I got to use the $50 off coupon.

kuroyume0161 ( ) posted Fri, 25 February 2005 at 10:54 AM

So, basically, the only way to pre-order properly using an internet purchasing company is to call customer service or sales and order over the phone? ;)

"Fucked" up again. For sure I will never preorder any product from CL again. My own stupidity that I've done again after Poser 5 "fun".

Great usercare, really.

Wombat ( ) posted Fri, 25 February 2005 at 2:47 PM

sekhet: you can if CL want's. Was it your mistake? No! If CL can not handle internet purchases they should only sell over retailers.
