Being new here I'm not sure what this means - When someone leaves this V in their comments does it mean anything particular? There are others too. Thanks

It means they are voting for the image to be placed in the 'Hot 20' list for the gallery. You can see the list by clicking on 'Hot 20' just above the header of each gallery, the last item in the 'Sort by:' line.
