Looks like the figure isn't casting any shadows on the ground and stairs. First of all match the sunlight to that of the original pic. To add realism you can use a light dome to give it a GI effect. And about the filter, well, i don't have photoshop :( hope that helped.

I think it's a great effort and very fine modelling. I'm a little confused why there aren't any shadows in the pre-post version. Did you disable them? Have you tried with the sun? Also, I find the sun is never enough, so turn it off all together and put a radial (or two) in place of the sun set very high (power). Hopper's original has very high contrast, so you will get away with the walls being bleached out slightly. GalleryThumb856272.jpg In this picture I didn't use the sun at all. Just two radials set at 999 and a few in the alley for ambience.

Your curtans are all parallel lines. Zhann has a great tutorial on draping fabric at this link.

Agentsmith posted a link to virtual painter some time ago. The demo includes a working pastel plugin that works with painshop 8 or photoshop.

there are some other materials that might work better at getting closer to the original. I feel like there's too much 'bump' in it, maybe something a touch smoother (or lower the bump on the materials)..just my thought. As for getting a modern look; maybe something like an IPOD in her hand (I think there's some in freebies), modern sunglasses (Gerald Day has some sunglasses), possibly even an earphone (BVH Swat comes with a multitude of 'extra's) if you want to bring it into this century. Put these on the model prior to importing into Bryce, and that might update it some.
Another thing is to vary the pose some. Maybe raise one foot on the Y axis in Poser (in the original, you can see her preparing to step off the last step), or move an arm, turn her head one way or another, just something that gives it some 'motion'..
Not an expert on Hopper, but I did live in one of his paintings for awhile..;)

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

Your lighting is too white. Add some yellow/orange tint to it to warm it like the painting. Use shadows at about 65%. Try getting some concrete photos to apply to the sidewalk as a mat.

Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!

She needs a hat and those curtans really need some more work, my 2 cents ! :D

You're going great on matching the painting; instantly recognisable. Part of the point of the woman's dress is that it's timeless: give her jeans, a crop-top and a belly-button piercing. Oh, and maybe some graffiti on the walls.
