Just to be sure where talking about the same thing, you do mean Mozilla (the integrated browser, mail client, etc.) and not Firefox (browser only) because the menus are different and instructions for one won't make sense if you've got the other.
What version of Windows ?
Is it set as your default browser ?
What happens when you double click on an .HTM file ?
If possible, download to a temp folder and run the installer, asking it to extract into that folder rather than to the real Runtime. DAZ keeps changing their installer, but you should be able to get the files pulled out manually. Then you get to read the readme and see if you agree with where DAZ thinks the files should go (messy and sloppy and all over creation with thousands of exclamation marks) or where you want the files to go (into a logically-named folder of your choice). Except for the unimesh figures you ought to be able to get your libraries set up in a manner which pleases you. However, you need to get the files extracted first. Carolly
I use Firefox, and I've never had a problem with readme's except when there is a problem with the package itself (i.e. no readme was ever installed). Frankly, I kind of wish I had your problem:) Carolly's suggestion is a good one. If you install to a fake directory, you will have much better control over where things end up, and can more easily find things, if you haven't already removed the original installation before you try to load it. eric
no no no no.... you don't understand how radio works :-) The problem that pakled is having is, after installing a DAZ product Mozilla isn't launching the HTML readme document(In fact it won't even launch in Mozilla if I click on the file manually). I never noticed it before because I usually leave the "view readme" option unchecked on the DAZ installers. I haven't figured out how to fix it yet, and I don't really have time to do it right now, but I'll get back to you when/if I do.
cooler, I think you have it. I just click through with the "view readme" checked and Mozilla or now FireFox sort of starts then goes away, never showing the readme. All of the DAZ readme htm's are stored in your Poser installation. I don't really care about fixing it. I just read the readmes before first use. :0)

The alternative is not to run the exe at all, but use an unzip utility that reads self-extracting exes. Is there such a thing? I really, really hate DAZ's installers. I'd love to be able to pull out just one file from the exe, without having to reinstall (or install to a dummy directory, then try to remember to delete the thing the next time I reboot...since WinXP doesn't allow you to do it until then).
Nah, the newest version of WinZip returns the same error message. Same with WinRar ... even though both apps give you the option of viewing the contents of an executable file, they return errors when you try to view the contents of DAZ' .exe files. There's no need for such an app, though. Simply use Carolly's technique, then use whatever HTML-reading app you like to view the ReaMe file. Firefox opens the files for me when I click on them ... I just tried it with the ReadMe's for several recent DAZ products, Firefox opened all of them ... it just won't do that automatically at the end of the installation process for some reason, especially with more recent DAZ products (i.e. sometimes Firefox does open older DAZ ReadMe's ... obviously there's been some change in coding that prevents Firefox from being able to open the files automatically.)
An alternate to Carolly's technique is to simply let the .exe do its thing (installing to default directories) and then go to your Poser "ReadMe's" directory, open the specific ReadMe file there. Usually, the ReadMe's are named after the specific product name, making them fairly easy to find.
If, as cooler appears to be reporting, even this technique doesn't work, then manually open the ReadMe's with MS Internet Explorer (shudder.) DAZ folks, if you're reading this thread, please fix this. More and more people are using Firefox for reasons of security and general feature preference. I suspect that the complaints about this will increase as Firefox's popularity as one's default Web browser increases. Might as well nip it in the bud. :-) The most recent version of DAZ installers are a huge improvement over earlier versions, this small improvement would make them even better.

Cooler's got it..that's the problem I'm having. I ask for the 'readme' file, and then boomp, nothin'..:| I'm using Firefox (I suppose, my 'home' page shows as Mozilla 1.7), and I've been using winzip since..well, pkzip alpha .097 (mid 80's..;). I looked in all the Daz areas..I'll try installing again, and see what happens. I know I haven't seen Daz Emoticons anywhere. Well, I still have some chances left to download it..just one of those things.

Don't even need to open Mozilla/Firefox first. If your HTML files are associated with a browser (default browser, by default), double-clicking on one should open it in the browser. Firefox did do a nasty thing, though, and remove my ability to "Edit with Dreamweaver". Don't know why. Left "Edit", but this opens Mozilla - not my first choice for HTML editing. :) We'll need to talk to Daz3D about the "View Readme" issue.

kuroyume0161, That's part of the problem though. It doesn't open in Mozilla either by autolaunch or by double clicking. I tried switching the file association between Netscape, Mozilla, & Internet Exploder last night. Netscape opened it fine as did IE. Mozilla tried to launch & then gave up & went out for coffee :-)
Did it add cream and sugar? ;) I don't use Netscape regularly (only installed for website testing last year) and not sure if the issue has been solved, but installing Netscape with Mozilla caused me no end of Mozilla troubles. They didn't go away until I uninstalled Netscape and reinstalled Mozilla.

DAZ character morphs are about the only "pre-loaded" runtime item that I retain in the default locations, exclamation points and all.
This is due to the fact that pretty much all third-party character packages are based around the default DAZ folders.
I'm lazy.....I hate having to tweak every single character -- text-edit .cr2 files, etc.. So, I just allow all DAZ morphs to plop down where they will.
I never do this with anything else -- just with DAZ stuff.

I think this is the same issue which causes Opera to spawn blank windows - it's because of blanks in the path name within the installer. See attached discussion at Daz."you are terrifying

Dear folks;
Got the emoticon guy, loaded him. On other versions of browsers, there's a readme to indicate where he got installed. Mozilla disables that. Quick, silly question. Where's the emoticon guy? under Figures? Poses?, Props?..just need the name of the folder generated. Been through all the figures, haven't see what it is yet
bonus question- does anyone know enough about Mozilla to help me turn off this 'feature'?..
thanks,
