Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 17 9:52 am)
Double-sided polygons. Poser 5 has issues with lighting/shading them. This even shows up when using the P4 renderer in P5, geep, although the effect is less pronounced. The displacement trick only works with the Firefly renderer, since the P4 renderer can't use displacement. As an alternative to displacement, set the material's Diffuse_Value to 0.0, then attach a Diffuse node to Alternate_Diffuse.
Tried to post a thanks a moment ago, but doesn't look like it made it through. Anyway, BIG THANKS for the help!! I had, in fact, tried the P4 renderer before I even posted my question, and it still had some (though not as much) artifact. But changing all the squares to one-sided fixed things in a jiffy! I really appreciate the swift help! I already had wasted hours on this little snafu.
Cheers!

I'm using one of Dex's wrestling freebie props, and it looks fine when it is in the document window (unrendered), but when I try to render it in P5, these black lines and boxes appear over the whole prop, completely ruining the image. This has happened to me a few times with other props as well, and I never did figure out the problem. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.Above is what the scene looks like in the document window before rendering, and then what it looks like rendered in Firefly with default production settings. Thanks.
