Finally got this thing done scraped the front control panel and put in flat screens, added lights, hinge for hatch, a little re-texturing, added joysticks. Just really need the textures for the flat screen displays. Give me 2 hours yet.

Looking good.

Has a bit of a toonish look to it, but nicely done. People don't realise how strong glass can be under compression. Put different motors on, and it would look good in vacuum too.

nice for shallow water work :) say to about 200 meters then you really do need a thick hull ;)

ratscloset ( ) posted Fri, 04 March 2005 at 10:37 AM

I would not say toonish, but 1950ish Hollywood Special Effect Prop. The type of thing so you could see the big name star sitting in it while it was supposedly underwater.

As I indicated in the other thread: it looks good to me. Unusual.

A deep sea squid, a giant octopus, or a large shark could provide some interest for the occupants.

See you in the marketplace soon.

I don't see any control surfaces. How do you achieve pitch and roll without dive planes? Trim tanks?

Through the use of anti-gravity devices. And warp drive, too.

It's a fantasy vehicle.

LOL. Well just put another pic up. I forgot to make the hatch open and close.

nightfir ( ) posted Fri, 04 March 2005 at 9:10 PM

I like the cat. Can I take it home. Yeah it looks a little toonish i have not got all the light and reflection settings etc set right just yet. Hmm trim planes argh! Something else to add. It's allways something. I'll have to add the dive plane to the rear support spar.

revric ( ) posted Sun, 06 March 2005 at 4:00 AM

Instead of a dive plane why not put props on the top, bottom, and sides of the engine nacelles. Put them on the front and rear pointing up, down and to the side. That way you can move the sub in all three planes with out having to move foward. Just take a look at any deep submersable to see what I mean. Just a thought, since you already made a prop it would be easier to clone the prop and move it around than to make the dive plane, position it and then make a rudder or two as well. Good looking sub, by the way. Keep up the good work.
