Just got this too, a high and low resolution, nice! And the image makes Jessie look realllly nice, I hope she is as nice as she looks, It seems that CL's learned their lesson with Judy being a not so supermodel looking base figure.

Hmmm I am very interested in what the more experienced among us think about these early hints. She looks good from the small pic and I hope that we might have another Victoria to work with, something that is good enough that the talented people here will develop material for in terms of textures and morphs etc. It would be nice to add another figure to the library that is on par with Victoria.

I have received some of the update emails but not this one. I hope we see more previews of the whole family soon, including close-ups of the faces. I'm glad you will be supporting them odeathoflife since it will make it easier for those buying P6 to better utilize the new figures :)

That figure is nice. I definitely gotta get it. I'm still going to wait till the bugs are ironed out (i'm short on patience and get frustrated easily, so it's worth maybe paying a little more money for a little less frustration), but I'm definitely going to get P6 when the time comes...

If all the merchants had supported Judy since P5's release she'd probably be incredible by now. Hopefully Jessi gets more support and people remember that when Vicky was first released by Daz she was butt-ugly. It took time and a lot of merchants effort for her to catch on and achieve what she eventually became. Judy never got that support.

Very nice and I really like those wings but ... NO MALE?! Hey CL, not all of us are gonna wanna render NJIATWAS!

If the female is named Jessi, would the male be James?

dlfurman ( ) posted Tue, 08 March 2005 at 12:46 AM

Byrdie, Jessi comes with Dress, Bodice, Skirt. She ain't going sword shopping in a temple nude, unless she gets rendered that way. There is a merchant who has tried eternally to give Judy some help. :) I cannot wait!

By not supporting Judy the merchants did themselves out of a LOT of money. If she was supported by the community, people would have bought the products. It doesn't matter how ugly you think she was, she could have (and has been) made to be more "attractive".

If the new characters are supported, the merchants will make a lot of money. The market will be uplifted by these characters if the community allows it. Supply and demand.

To be honest I could care less about another frickin vicky or mike map, or morph, or character, or clothes. YAWN... It's all been done to death. Those characters are pretty much played out. I use them heavily but I have all the stuff I need for them.

I am a buyer on this website. I do most of my shopping for stuff here. There are a lot of really good merchants here. That's why I show up. I must say though, I haven't been spending here like I once was.

I can't imagine that the merchants are making nearly as much money as they used to. There are a few REALLY gifted merchants that are probably making some money. But I would guess that that's it.

Just my 2 cents,

Joe

P.S. Or maybe I'm just a babbling idiot. I do know where I spend my cash though.

Well, I want to SEE the tiara before I'll refer to her as a queen (I'm rather traditional in my idea of royalty and regalia). The naked belly-button doesn't impress me much, either, but it appears to be fashionable with people who've never been hit in the stomach. But there is a dress listed, and the wings are interesting, and with more facial morphs and textures, and some hair, too... there will be plenty of stuff to play with. It looks like a nicely themed bonus pack. However, she'll need a proper tall crown and a bit of fur (ermine or fox or polar bear), and something with snowflakes or ice crystals. Pearls would be good, too (I'm thinking of Russian headdresses). Hmmm.. subsurface scattering... I wonder if that would FINALLY give us the look of real pearls? Damnity, I've got to go digging through my opera books for that costume, now! Carolly

Heck yes. She was and still is a huge potential market. If we can trust polls, >50% of the people here own her. And the market for Judy-addons isn't nearly as crowded as the market for Vicky. No competition! Message edited on: 03/08/2005 04:03

Carolly, S'funny I had similar visions of the "Winter Queen" guess I've listened to too much opera. :oD Still looks good though, and if Jessie is upported by merchants I'd possibly buy stuff for her depending on what was offered. She looks like a good base figure with plenty of potential.

I recieved the E-mail the shoulders look bad. the smart move would be to Do what SIXUS1 recently Did and make the new P5 female able to wear vickie clothes. lets be realistic here alot of people have a huge investment in vicky content and merchants are not stupid and know this. As far as judys lack of support No one wanted to risk time and effort creating content for a human female that just did not look HUMAN this has nothing to do with my personal preferences for women etc. the face on Default judy is not properly proportioned for a normal human which is why she looks like an "alien" even "possette" has proper face proportions. I am glad the us Mac users will get poser 6 at the same time this go around :-)

I think the character pack looks good! This has made me consider buying the Special Edition. I'll be thinking about it today...

JohnRickardJR ( ) posted Tue, 08 March 2005 at 5:55 AM

I'm glad to see prop hair. What stopped me playing with the P5 people was the dynamic hair, which on the machine I had at the time was far far to slow to actually use, and didn't look all that good when you did get it to render. It may be more powerful and flexible, but the hassle to use it was too much, so after a series of Bald Judy renders I went back to figures with hair.

Wylder ( ) posted Tue, 08 March 2005 at 6:06 AM

I'll have to check out the new figures before I decide if I'm going to use them or not. I hope they're great. And if they are, I will buy stuff for them.

But my problem with Judy isn't that she's ugly. It's that she's just too limited. I never used Posette; V3 was already out when I started seriously using Poser. I used V3 and the V3 male, and sometimes M2. When you're used to high-res, highly morphable, highly poseable figures like that, going back to a figure like Judy or Don is very difficult and frustrating. They've got very few morphs, and they don't look very good. Their clothes have no morphs at all. Third-party morph packs aren't really an answer, because no matter how popular they are, they never have the kind of support that "official" morphs do.

Two things I like about the P5 figures (which will presumably be true for the P6 figures as well): the Face Room, and the way their dials are organized. But it's going to take more than that to make me want to use them. They'll have to be competitive with V3 and M3, as far as morphs and resolution go.

narcissus ( ) posted Tue, 08 March 2005 at 7:37 AM

Her bodytype reminds me of MayaDoll... She looks promising...I hope the P5 man is good too... The low resolution version of the same character is a great option too!!!Nice move! I wonder about texture compability... Anyway I guess this will put Judy on the "Poser 5" character folder forever... It is a good example about the power of women! One ugly woman made all the P5 family hated forever! :^) I hope that the community accepts better the P6 family,If this happens I'm sure we'll see many things for them! It's nice to have good tools by default... pitklad

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Tue, 08 March 2005 at 9:05 AM

I am thinking her body type reminds me of posette and judy. A lot of the same shape there including the shoulders.

XENOPHONZ ( ) posted Tue, 08 March 2005 at 11:23 AM

As I've already mentioned in another thread, Jessi looks promising.

I like V3, and I have every intention of continuing to use her.

But most "real" women aren't 6 feet tall.

Jessi might fit the typical mold better. We'll see soon enough.

I have no problem with mixing & matching figures in a scene. There's no reason not to use both V3 and Jessi -- provided that Jessi turns out to be worthwhile.

 • There shouldn't be credit. They aren't Erlik's wings. They are just wings. They look like wings from a bird, that's all. Do you honestly think that Curious Labs would package someone elses wings? Honestly?

 • And before it gets started (if it hasn't already) the new figures are NOT a rehash of the old characters.

 • Open GL has nothing to do with a final render.

 • Why on earth would they want to make Vicky clothes fit the new characters? It would jump right in and destroy the new market for the merchants. That's like saying they should make a ford bolt right up to a Chevy. That would be a bad move.

Unless CL is using a pretty detailed transparency map, you can see that Virus's wings have 8 "large" feathers and the CL ones have five or six at most. It looks to me like they're different wings, but hopefully we can get an answer soon. I wouldn't have given it a second thought except for that incident with Terrance-tenmu (if I recall correctly) and the Japanese box cover business. SnowS

I don't see any real similarity myself, other than the generic fact that they're both wings. The Snow Queen wings look like a simpler design, but a very good texture. To accuse theft over the one picture makes no more sense than accusing DAZ of ripping off the Dina mesh to make V3 just because they can both wear red hair in promos. No wonder CL posts here so rarely. . . sigh
