Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 6:06 am)
not my intention at all. I, myself, have no experience taking 3D meshes and converting them for use as Poser characters. (props, yes...characters, no) I find even the advanced user's guide to be inadequate. Therefore I would like to turn to a "pro" for a possible project. Someone for whom this type of work is "old hat" -SMT

Why is making meshes into figure's still considered a black art? It boggles my mind. There is nobody on the face of this earth who can't learn how to do it. If you can install Windows and an Internet connection. Then you're smart enough to make your own Poser figure's. Actually. You'd be over qualified ;-) I never understood people saying it's hard. It isn't. It's as easy as falling out of bed. ScottA
I would agree in a sense that character creation is not all that difficult, but that's kind of like saying it's not too hard to dig a hole. The question is, how big is the hole? Creating a character is kind of like that, especially if you're creating it from new geometry. Sure, you can create it, but then you have to spend hours and hours tweaking joint parameters until everything works just right, and then more hours creating morphs, then having to go back and do some of the above over again because you found a flaw. It's a lot of simple steps, but the sheer volume of things to do can be daunting. I am working on a character right now, and I think I spent a couple of days just tweaking JPs for the hands.

I'd like to see if there is a consensus about who is the king of the forum when it comes to taking 3D geometry and converting it into Poser characters. So everybody, who's Kungfu is the best? -SMT (I might have work for you)
