Hi All well this is as far as have got with the bending of palms I have been using an XFrog palm but am not skilled enough to work out if it is possible to bend in this program I saved the image as a lightwave file which is the image on the left. I resorted to Cinema 4D and found a way of bending the tree trunk but in saving I lost all the textures when saving as a 3d studio model. It seems like I have solved one problem to find that I cannot get as usable file format for Vue :-(

Any help greatly received

Keith

In Xfrog you have various ways to bend a trunk: you can use the dedicated spline, or you can apply gravitropism to it, or you can even use an attractor (although this would be an "overkill") - not to mention deviation (for smaller/subtler changes. There is nothing to really "learn", just modify one of those things and see what happens. Export the model from Xfrog as 3DS or (if you use embedded alpha in the maps) as LWO, and you will be able to import into Vue smoothly. If you need help in the import process, please refer to my tutorials (I think they are listed here somewhere). Orio

Hi Orio thanks for your reply I have looked again at Xfrog and will have to sit down with the reference manual as it is not obvious how you bend the trunk on an imported model like the one I have been using. As for you tutorials I could not find anything in Renderosity tutorials This what I have when I open the Palm tree in Xfrog
