OK, here are a few in the 5-7-5 tradition. Springtime is coming, On the calendar at least. Still, chill in my bones. A new blush of green Paints still nearly naked trees. Joy builds in my heart. Topsy turvy world; While it is springtime up here, Fall comes to the south. jon

The lights are back. It's bad when it goes for a day or two. The Haiku's second line should have read 'Isn't that absurd?', but then i was in a hurry to shut down. A gentle spring rain, For him who has ears to hear, Listen! The Earth sings. Warm winds blow, Crisp chill in the eve; Spring smiles sweet. Where do we post? Do you mean in the gallery or here?
Post them here. It's just an informal little challenge for the fun of it. I like both of yours, especially the first one. I love the metaphor - The Earth sings. Beautiful. jon

Just for fun - here is a link for those who wish to join jstro's challenge, but may wish to brush-up on "How To Haiku" Thanks so much for the mini-challenge jstro :)HeyNow - not trying to bring anyone down :) I live in upstate NY, land of snow - it is just a way of life here - we have 2 seasons - Winter and 4th of July :) In upstate New York 'tis true, Winter lasts forever Yet, we love the sun When the sun does shine celebrations all day long fire lights sky at night
Wow guys! Dee, that was really good! Netsia, I really like that! Dee, it wasn't your Haiku :) Life's a bit dark at times. Not to worry. Your Haiku was a lifter :) Life beckons, Now unfrozen rush; Come hither! Let me dive into Sun-spangled, windy spaces When weariness comes Hark! It changeth not Though harshness pull asunder Springsong singeth true
From the headlines of today's news I offer this one: Minnesota snow Cannot dampen springtime hopes. The geese still fly north. You're all doing great. Keep 'em coming. jon

March 20th is the first day of spring. Let's ring it in with a mini poetry challenge. Do a Haiku on the theme of Spring. Use either the 5-7-5 Japanese form or the 3-5-3 American form. Here are a few to get us started. Post your Haiku between now and the 20th to help bring spring in on the right foot. Here are a couple to get us started: March blows in. Thunder clouds build up; Storm coming. Birds on wing. Blue skies overhead. New buds swell. Changeable. The weather of March, Warm and cold. I did all three in the 3-5-3 American form. Well, off to work on some 5-7-5s. jon
