Actually, if you use "split vertices" the model will then look faceted in Poser. Poser uses common vertices to smooth the model so splitting the vertices will make it unable to do that (this will also give you hard edges for furnature, etc.) Splitting the vertices doesn't affect texture mapping. Instead, simply load the model into UVMapper, select "Edit->New UV Map->Planar" and be sure "Split by orientation" is selected. Then save out the updated model as well as the texture map template.
