Subject: Confusion about when we're supposed to receive boxed set of P6...

The email didn't really nail down a certain date as to when we're actually supposed to receive our physical copy of P6. I know its being shipped to Digital River tomorrow, but I wish they had given us more specific information...

Jackson ( ) posted Sun, 20 March 2005 at 10:03 PM

From CL's PreOrder FAQ page: "When will I get my preorder? Poser 6 Special Edition is scheduled to begin shipping on March 21, 2005 from the main US warehouse. Physical orders will begin to be filled as soon as the product is received at our Digital River fulfillment centers, which we expect to take five to seven business days from the date the product shipped. The timing for individual orders will then be based on the delivery method chosen when you preordered."

Tyger_purr ( ) posted Sun, 20 March 2005 at 10:05 PM

It will be shipped to Digital River tomarrow during the day. ;)

Tyger, I knew that... "The timing for individual orders will then be based on the delivery method chosen when you preordered" I don't see the delivery method listed anywhere on my invoice and I don't remember what I picked.

That looks about right ockham. You did forget the anchor or ball and chain or anvile to slow it down more. I'd be surprized to see it in 4 weeks. It took over 3 weeks for me to get P5.

kaveman ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 1:47 AM

Some of us paid for Overnight. And at Ero 52 it had better be here tomorrow or all H#ll will break loose.

Philywebrider ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 5:05 AM

"Physical orders will begin to be filled as soon as the product is received at our Digital River fulfillment centers, which we expect to take five to seven business days from the date the product shipped. The timing for individual orders will then be based on the delivery method chosen when you preordered." The key phrase is; "Physical orders will begin to be filled ..." Shipping will depend on when you ordered it. First ordered, first shipped. How fast you get it once shipped depends on method of delivery. Standard, three day, two day, or overnight. If you preordered early, standard shipping, you 'might' get it before somebody who ordered late, overnight. It all depends on amount of preorders. Those who will get it the fastest are those who preordered early, and have overnight delivery. Those who will get it the slowest are those who ordered the lastest and use stardard delivery. Anywhere in between is a crap shoot depending on order date AND delivery method. Overnight only means overnight from the SHIP day, the ship day depends on 'WHEN' you reordered. Overnight doesn't necessarily mean overnight from the day Digital River recieves P6, 'overnight' means it ships 'overnight' once you name comes up on the first come first ship list. 'Overnight' is not a shipping order priorty, but a delivery method.

Berserga ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 7:40 AM

Eh, I also don't remember picking a shipping option (which is pretty odd.) But I imagine I'll get it sometime next week. Which is fine I can entertain myself reading all the posts from the ones whow downloaded it. ^_^ Anticipation is the sweetest part. Plus I have no shortage of shots to get done anyway.

Tyger_purr ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 8:09 AM

I'm hoping the manual will be downloadalbe like P5's is so i can at least read the instructions while i wait for the post.

It's too bad they won't give those of us who ordered a physical shipment a DL link as well so we can get started...or would they? Has anyone asked?

Tyger_purr ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 8:48 AM

I wouldn't expect them too. I have heard there was to be a downloadable demo version from some that trade show that happend the 9th (sorry cant remember what it was) but it wasnt online then and i wouldnt count on it comming up today....but ya never know.

RHaseltine ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 8:50 AM

Downloads still cost them money, at least when their servers are busy (which I rather suspect they will be this week). At least the downloaders will have had a chance to find work-arounds for the bugs (there are bound to be some) by the time we get the goods.

Philywebrider ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 8:54 AM

Momcat-My guess the DL links are going to be loaded as is. CL mentioned beefing up their links, but they said there might still be delays for the P6 DL people, as they expact heavy traffic. Tyger Purr-The P5 manual now requires a serial number to access the manual DL.

GWeb ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 8:56 AM

"If you ordered a physical product, we will send you a separate shipment notification via e-mail as soon as your order has shipped." I wonders when I will receive the notification. Tonight, Tomorrow?

Philywebrider ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 8:59 AM

RDNA put out a Poser6 Preview newsletter with some really great testominals, (even from some people that hated P5).

GWeb ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 9:00 AM

I still hate the renderer in P6

Tyger_purr ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 9:21 AM

Tyger Purr-The P5 manual now requires a serial number to access the manual DL. I just downloaded the manual. It does require you give name and e-mail address, but it did not ask for serial number. it is possible that they are cross referencing my name with their records, but maybe not. Hard to tell. GWeb: Your persistent nagging has lost you all sympathy from me.

I do not care what you said. I speak for myself as a customer and want to push Poser to the limit. Take a hike Tyger purr. You are really sad because your still thinking as flintstone for Poser.

Philywebrider ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 9:37 AM

Tyger Purr- I thought that the name and E-mail address referenced the registered s/n#, maybe I'm wrong.

jcbwms ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 9:43 AM

And you are really sad for still thinking you know something about the rendering capabilities of the software, when the rendering engine that is included is consistently rated among the top ten rendering engines available for less than 3000 dollars to day. To date, you still have not answered the specific questions I posed to you to defend your position in a completely separate thread, and yet you continue to harp on a feature that if you, personally, were to learn how to use properly, you could achieve the results you so loudly desire. perhaps if you were to actually address the critical dissection of your concepts instead of ignoring that which does not agree with your ill informed conceptualization of capability, you might actually achieve some semblance of sympathy for your cause. Otherwise, you will continue to be considered an annoyance by the general forum population. At this point, you are closely akin to someone who used to haunt these forums long ago when I originally wandered through it and had the same proclivity for tilting at windmills. If I recall correctly, that person was a knights something or other, and they had a reputation at that time that was, to say the very least, enough to inspire a flame fest at their very posting. Get Over It Already As to the actual thrust of the thread -- you have as good an ability to guess as I do. And I'm not expecting to see it this week or next.

Lovemends ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 9:58 AM

GWeb's opinion's renderer is valuable. I do not like the renderer either it does not promote very well in my small business.

Berserga ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 10:07 AM

Hi GWebs's other clone acount. How ya doin? I think the same broken english tends to be a bit too much of a giveaway :p GOD people Let's just quit responding to this TROLL which is what he/she/it is. -_-

Lovemends ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 10:09 AM

Deaf people do have broken english. I do not appreciate your calling me troll Thank you

Momcat ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 10:10 AM

To each their own I guess...But as I ask my 13 year old daughter frequently: How do you know you do not like something you have never tried? How can I find this opinion valuable if you have no facts or personal experience to base it on? If you have made your mind up already so be it. It's a self defeating attitude, but I could not care less. I think everyone knows yourt opinion already. Is it necessary to regurgitate it at every opportunity? It is annoying to say the least. Opinions are like ___. Everyone has one. And just like ____; I don't care to have them pushed in my face every time I turn around.

Berserga ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 10:12 AM · edited Mon, 21 March 2005 at 10:16 AM

Lovemends... if that is your REAL name :D

How would being deaf affect your typing? and besides that's beside the point, YOU make the same gramatical errors as Gweb, You also have nothing in your gallery, and you also make the same bizarre assertians, Therefore I believe you are the same person.

Now I certainly could be wrong, if so sorry... But I don't think so. :p

and GWeb is most assuredly a troll.

I am not GWeb. Now I understand GWeb better why you people have abused him in past like you just did to me. Again I am not Troll. Why can't I post with some grammar errors? That is how I write. Do you insult to every deaf people in this forum?

artistheat ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 10:27 AM

Some of you sound like Junkies needing a Fix...LOL..P6 will get there when it gets there..I agree people who payed for over night should get it first even if they preorder it yesterday...I my self will have to wait I used standard order...So sit back relax and keep a look out for your UPS guy..LOL..

Berserga ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 10:41 AM

again I fail to see how being deaf would affect one's ability to TYPE. If anything logic would dictate the opposite to be true. On top of that there is nothing at all wrong with having broken english for whatever reason, I merely pointed out the striking similarities between YOU and the other YOU. :p Now I'm going to take my own advice and ignore you. :p Anyway I am not a Junkie. :) I'll probably enjoy the anticipation quite a bit. I remember when P5 was first coming out it was pretty exciting. I want to see lot's of diverse renders from you guys getting the DL! Not just a bunch of NJITWAS pics. ^_-

Philywebrider ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 10:50 AM

Once the order is shipped the e-mail notifiying you should tell you when it was shipped and the tracking number will permit you to check in-transit status so you can pin down the delivery date.

artistheat ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 10:53 AM

I'm not a P5 user But a PP user so all of this will be new to me...P5 didn't Impress me so I didn't bother with it..But on the other hand P6 grabbed my eye so here I am now waiting for my Fix...LOL..

Philywebrider ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 11:01 AM

I gotta say I'm looking forward to seeing what can be done with Poser6. The artists here and elsewhere never cease to amaze with their fantastic work, they are always pushing at the envelope of what can and can't be done. Whatever the tools they are given, they produce magic with them.

Lovemends ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 11:02 AM

Deaf people and culture are not junkie. Sometimes there were some disagreements between cultures on how they say. After reading GWeb's posts. I do not see anything wrong with it. I appreciates his honest input about P6 and the problems he found before the release as honest preview. You guys probably don't like it because you probably already preordered P6. GWeb preordered P6 because of what was advertised and thought that renderer was improved. Please give some deaf people respect and their inputs. I do know GWeb personally we share the same business. Poser 5 renderer did not promote my business very well and had to use other software to do the render work. Thanks for understanding

I pre-ordered the box version

If I get it in 3 weeks I'd be happy

Lovemends you miss understood the Junkie comment it was a joke for all Poser users not Deaf People...:)

Tyger_purr ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 11:13 AM

I didnt say i disagree with GWeb. I only said i have not sympathy for his "cause". It is not that i do not want the things he is demanding, it is that i do not like his meathod. I will not associate my support with his meathod He (or she) has entered every thread that has any relation to P6 and entered this opinion of the renderer. Even when it was no where near the subject. GWeb's broken english leads me to believe he is not a native english speaker (or perhaps deaf, i hadn't thought of that). His general attitude indicates he is rather immature ("take a hike"?). Combine the two and he may not realize just how anoying he is being. I tried to be polite but it is not always easy to express a negative opinion in a non-confrontational way. >I do not care what you said. If you didn't care you wouldn't insult me.

Connatic ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 11:17 AM

gweb reminds me of a common occurence at musician jam-nights - 2 guitarists step up to play my Ibanez guitar. The first guy's performance is terrible, and when his song is over nobody claps and he says "These Ibanez guitars suck. I can only play a good guitar like a Strat!" Then the next guest musician steps up and floors the audience with a blazing performance and afterwards he says "Wow, this plays as nice as my Strat!" P5 renderer works great for me. If you cannot get good results and others can, maybe the problem is with the user, and not the tool.

Lovemends ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 11:24 AM

Tyger purr, I see what you mean, but after reading your post in #18 "Your persistent nagging has lost you all sympathy from me." Nagging is considered offensive word. You and Gweb traded the words. He does not deserve the ban, he abided the TOS very well. How can you lose all sympathy when he just say that he dont like the P6 renderer in #17? It was after someone posted about P6 'portrayed' preview in post #16. He is being reasonable and realistic to input his honest opinion about P6 renderer.

"To each their own I guess...But as I ask my 13 year old daughter frequently: How do you know you do not like something you have never tried?" Please teach her to not have that attitude towards drugs, violence and promiscuity ;)

Berserga ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 11:30 AM

Oh did GWeb get banned? ^_^ Genki desuuu!

Tyger_purr ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 11:30 AM

Berserga: Sign language is in many cases grammatically different from spoken English. People who use sign language (deaf or not) over a long term period tend to use a shorthand (pardon the pun). This is similar in some ways to internet shorthand (i.e. CUL8r = See you Later [L-eight-er] ). It is also prevalent in spoken language, but is often hard to point out because it is so widely accepted and overlooked. In informal settings such as internet chat rooms and forums, people tend to try to type they way they speak. Because sign grammar is so different form spoken grammar, hearing people would view deaf peoples messages as broken English for someone who doesnt speak English natively (which, in a way, is correct).

Nagging is considered offensive word. Nagging is the least offensive word I could find that still portrayed my opinion of his attitude and tactics. There may be a better way to say it, but that is what came to mind. > He does not deserve the ban, he abided the TOS very well. I do not promote, nor support the idea that he should be banned. >How can you lose all sympathy when he just say that he dont like the P6 renderer in #17? It was after someone posted about P6 'portrayed' preview in post #16. He is being reasonable and realistic to input his honest opinion about P6 renderer. This is far from the only place he has stated his opinion. I have seen it in no less than 4 threads, and quite aggressively defended. I am not saying he should not state his opinion or defend his opinion. But if he expects to garner support, he should reevaluate his methods. Otherwise he becomes just an annoyance perhaps even a troll.

Lovemends ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 11:46 AM

Yes he should reevaluste his method. We do not have good skills in that area. In our culture we often blunt and say things straight forward. Some foreigners came to US and said that Americans are hyprociate people because they dont say things honestly to them differs to their culture.

Berserga ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 11:51 AM

Ah, Thanks for the education. Again I never said anything negative about people who use broken english for whatever reason. It still doesn't change my point at all though. Whether It was due to being deaf, or due to being a non native english speaker, both GWeb, and Lovemends write in a similar manner. That was the ONLY point I was making, as I think Lovemends is merely another Clone account of GWeb. :) The attempt to make me look like some kind of a hater is a typical Troll tactic anyway which further strengthens my point. Yawn

Kristta ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 11:59 AM

My mother is completely deaf. She can hear nothing. She has used sign language and read lips all my life. And guess what? She does not make any grammatical errors when she TYPES. After 50 years of being deaf, she rarely makes them in speech now. Being deaf does not mean that you are so stupid that you can't type a proper letter. My mother started her career as a typist for a big company. She is now head of their finance department. Because of her, 500 people are able to get a check for their wages every week. AND SHE IS COMPLETELY DEAF. I'm sorry, but I must defend my parents. Mother is totally deaf and Daddy is 85% deaf. I am at about a 25% deaf rate at this point. Being deaf does not affect typing. Thank you, Kristta

Lovemends ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 12:00 PM

So nothing will change your mind that I am not GWeb at all? Will you kindly please keep it to yourself and stop trying to convience people that I am GWeb because I AM NOT HIM. Thanks

artistheat ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 12:09 PM

This is getting silly now..This Thread is confuse about shipping..Not whether or not Deaf people can function like normal people. We know Deaf people have accomplish many great things they are Actors,Doctors,Lawyers etc...Lets stick to the topic before this thread gets locked...Now where is my P6 order...LOL...

Lovemends ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 12:09 PM

Your mother read lips she probably have a taste of hearing's culture and their culture grammar. Why is spanish lanmguage not the same grammar structure as english? Nothing in the world have the same grammar structure. Grammar is based on culture and traditions. I respect your mother and her success. I wish it was the same for other deaf people.

Berserga ( ) posted Mon, 21 March 2005 at 12:10 PM

^_^ That all depends, on whether you act like him or not. I'd rather not ever have to respond to Trolls like GWeb at all. but I saw too many suckers getting sucked into trying to "reason" with him. I guess I'm the sucker now for having this correspondance. so I am done with this thread. :)
