I'm having a problem using standard clothing with the p4 characters. I am using poser 5 and when I bend the legs and arms more than 50 degrees The skin begins showing througn. Currently I am rendering them out as qt movies and using After effects to paint out the skin. then finally converting them to flash. This would not be a big problem except I have 600+ animations to take care of. I have tried to adjust the clothing size or bend it and in a few cases it has worked. I can not lessen the amount the characters bend because the amimations are for an exercise program and exact body movements are necessary. Any insight would be greatly appriciated. I have attached a .jpg example. Thanks, jason FYI I am working on a mac G4

Jason, you can click on the buttocks and hip and set those areas as invisible in the hierarchy. Then maybe you won't see as much poke-through. I'll go back and check posette to see how far up her thighs go, but you're not going to be able to turn those off.

Turning off the hips did help a little, but the thigh is still showing through. The thigh goes all the way down to the knee so I'm not able to make it invisible. Thanks for the advice and I welcome any other suggestion you might have. Jay

Maybe doing a Transparent map and applying it? Since the skin does not show all the way to the end of her Tights, you could basically brush it very coarsely and get away with it... If the character will be using the same outfit for all the animations you could fix a lot with that... Hope it helps... Rick

In this instance I think I'd create a transparency map for the skin material. Quick to do and would produce a definite solution.

The easiest way to do this is to use the grouping tool and select the polygons on the thigh (posette). When you have them selected, hit the new material button. Call the new material anything you want, and do the same to the other leg. This creates a new material zone which you can then make 100% transparent. Mitch

.....or you could leave off her shorts and color and texture the skin on that part of her body to resemble spandex shorts. No poke through with that way to go. Miriah Oh yeah...I'm a newbie to Poser, so maybe this wouldn't work for you?

When that happens to me, I would render two pictures. One like the above and one where the tight is invisible. Then clone from the last one to the first in a paint program. I use that a lot *UPS didn't notice that you was going to do an animation Think then like PhilC, a trans map for her tight

I think in your case QuietRiot's solution is the fastest and the best. Copy the body texture you are using and add red where appropriate to represent spandex shorts. No more poke through in extreme poses. ;o)

There's always magnets, too...I'd stick one on her upper thigh to shrink it

Still another trick: Grouping Tool, select her hip, assign new material (call it Shorts) Select her thigh, select all polygons that should not be skin, assign material Shorts. Same for her other thigh. THen set the Shorts material to red. Nice and fast in animations, the scene will have less polygons so the render will be faster. And never a pokethrough problem. Editing a texture amp is also a possibility, at least if you're proficient with Photoshop or PSP or the like. You'd need a seam guide to color in just the right pieces though. And then you could also draw a zipper or buttons on the texture. More work, but you can get better results, and a texture map is very reusable.

Thanks for all the responses--I figured out the easiest solution was just to paint the nude female texture red in the areas that are under the shorts. that way if any flesh sticks out , it's the same color as the shorts--looking back I see that Quiet Riot suggested that--The transparancy idea is still probably the best, but I have to get these done by friday and it would take a while to figure out that process--something I will eventually do!! Again---Thanks all!!! Jason
