Subject: P6 Bug - Daz Hair MATs not working

jeffg3 ( ) posted Thu, 24 March 2005 at 1:06 AM · edited Sat, 30 November 2024 at 3:44 PM

I've run into a bug.

Daz hair MATs are not working in P6

Example:

I load AilaHair.

I apply the AilaHair 05 MAT.

No change in hair color.

I've tried several hair models (Flip-Do, Cuffed Tail etc...) and am getting the same thing.

Koz's hair accepts MAT changes fine.

Grace Lion Hair and Egypt Hair MAT-poses are also not working. Any idea?

jeffg3 ( ) posted Thu, 24 March 2005 at 4:07 AM

Neither does Paradise Hair. But Koz's hair does work as does Aeris_Hair. Very strange. I broke open one of Koz's cr2 files and it contains alot more info that a Daz hair cr2.

I think thats the point. you tried with a koz hair which was a .cr2 hair. theres no problem, because cr2 can take matposes without problems. aila hair by DAZ is a .hr2. (a prop). and props only takes matposes if they are parented to a figure. so you cannot use matposes at a hair which is load without a figure. if you load the figure first, and then the .hr2 hair it is parented und you can change the colour with matposes. :)

Try parenting the hair again? Just a thought... bonni

thats curious :O I tried that... and it worked... you selected the hair before adding the matpose?

*** Try parenting the hair again? Just a thought...*** I did. Parent, unparent, reparent, disown etc. None of which worked. Looks like a real bug.

jeffg3 ( ) posted Thu, 24 March 2005 at 4:55 AM

AS3Design: I tried that... and it worked... I tried it in a brand new scene - same bug. (You are in P6 right?)

AS3Design ( ) posted Thu, 24 March 2005 at 5:11 AM

yes Iam in poser6 :))) but Iam sitting at a MAC here, maybe there is the bug in PC version only?

Ok, GraceLionHair when parented to V3 works. Puh! :)

Fredy ( ) posted Thu, 24 March 2005 at 5:32 AM

...and Aila Hair when parented to V3: works! I am on a PC.

jeffg3 ( ) posted Thu, 24 March 2005 at 5:56 AM

*** ...and Aila Hair when parented to V3*** I just tried that - it doesn't work for me. (XP Pro SP1)

Fredy ( ) posted Thu, 24 March 2005 at 6:08 AM

Hmm, strange! New scene, V3SAE, Aila Hair, Mat pose, works fine. (XP Home SP1, but that should not matter...)

randym77 ( ) posted Thu, 24 March 2005 at 6:25 AM

Perhaps it's that old P5 bug, where MAT files sometimes don't work after the first time?

semidieu ( ) posted Thu, 24 March 2005 at 6:39 AM

Don't know if there is still the "memory bug" in Poser6. You could perhaps try to reboot Poser to look if it's working. Sometime, just beginning a new scene isn't enough.

MarianneR ( ) posted Thu, 24 March 2005 at 7:48 AM

I found when experimenting with the Madelia hair on the mac in Poser 6, that I had to change the display style for the hair to texture shaded to make it look right in Preview.

UrbanChilli ( ) posted Thu, 24 March 2005 at 8:18 AM

Odd - I have no problem with Paradise hair in P6, it change mat no problem

Tirjasdyn ( ) posted Thu, 24 March 2005 at 8:50 AM

Did you move your runtimes....perhaps it can't find the texture...

UrbanChilli ( ) posted Thu, 24 March 2005 at 9:02 AM

I moved mine, but not into P6 runtime, made a copy to another drive

karanta ( ) posted Thu, 24 March 2005 at 9:28 AM

Even after a restart, MAT poses for hair and certain articles of clothing are not working for me. I wonder if it has anyhting to do with using a 2nd Runtime?

karanta ( ) posted Thu, 24 March 2005 at 2:36 PM

I just tried out and loaded the Aila hair and the MATposes from my second runtime and all works fine.

You could perhaps try "Correct Reference Pro" to check your runtimes...

wimvdb ( ) posted Fri, 25 March 2005 at 9:48 AM

MAT files for hair work fine if the figure and the hair prop is active in the document window (example: Figure 1, AilaHair).
If the document window has another figure (clothing) selected with the hair prop (example: HD_Pants, AilaHair) MAT files will not work on the hair prop.

If you are in the Pose room and you select the hair prop, the figure to which it belongs is also selected. But in P6 - if you have the material room open - you can select a prop with the colorpicker. The material settings will show for the hair and the prop will be selected in the document window - but NOT the figure to which it is parented. And conseqeuntly the MAT files do not work.

So the solution is simple - select the hair prop in the document window and MAT files for the hair will work

jeffg3 ( ) posted Fri, 25 March 2005 at 1:18 PM

Here's something wierd. I have been having these MAT problems on XP Pro. I installed P6 on a Win 2000 machine and - no problems. So it's starting to look like a Poser6 XP Pro bug Can anyone confirm?

karanta ( ) posted Fri, 25 March 2005 at 1:21 PM

Im working with win 2000 - and all works fine. But I have not the possibility to try with XP.

All of the above work on P6 on xp pro running sp2

jeffg3 ( ) posted Fri, 25 March 2005 at 2:09 PM

P6 on xp pro running sp2 I'll install SP2 and see if that does anything.

UrbanChilli ( ) posted Sat, 26 March 2005 at 3:11 AM

I've noticed that there is a problem with finding some of the other mats too. P6 will look for it in it's own runtime. I have win xp pro and SP2. I think it's because the full path is given with a fixed harddrive when it's installed, so when it's moved it will still look there.
