Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 14 10:48 am)
I don't have Mike, but Vickie exhibits similar problems. It appears that the seams of the head texture are overlayed onto the upper neck texture and that the colour values are added together (this is only a guess). I've had some success with fading the outer areas of the head texture where they overlap the neck (which is part of the body texture) by copying the layer the texture is on, then erasing the initial layer to transparent. Use the eraser (airbrush mode) with a brush set to low opacity ( around 5%) and spacing set to 25 (this of course assumes you have Photo Shop -- if you're using some other paint program you'll need to set it up to something similar). Airbrush the outer edges of the face and back of the head gradually to transparent and see if it helps. Poser will read Photo Shop (.psd) files and will use the topmost visible layer for the texture. When you're satisfied, flatten the image. Hope this helps some.... PS -- nice job on the hair!
Chaos, I tried to reproduce the seam in Mike (after looking at the textures in a graphics program over the template). I could not get a seam using the default texture no matter how I posed or lighted. This looks like what happens when I use the Polyette character w/o blending the neck textures (Polyette is Warrior DL's Vicky/P4 composite). Could you possibly have 2 textures selected?? The MilMan texture blended quite nicely at the shoulder for me even in quite closeups--so now I don't know. I had a feeling that the head and body texture didn't blend well at the neck, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I just really looks as though there is an 'under' color to the body texture or that the body isn't the MilMan texture. Could you have the ambient color set differently?? BTW, if you got the Mike map, didn't you get an cr2/rsr that has this set up correctly with under body colors set already?? Other than these possibilities, I don't have a clue G.
Can't help on the hair, but I've had similar experience with the seam issue when using head/body textures for Mike, Vicky, Eve, etc. from different sources/artists, especially when mixing/matching. Try selecting the color tool from the editing tools, clicking on the body with the paint can icon, drag the icon and move it horizontally along the lower paint color bar, (flesh tones), until the head and body colors match. This is faster than using the materials editor and trial and error. I don't use too many textures, but adjust the color and skin tones of the ones I use in this manner.
