Subject: P6 Hair Node Colour loss

kaveman ( ) posted Sun, 03 April 2005 at 7:05 PM ยท edited Wed, 22 January 2025 at 11:05 AM

My Hair Nodes no longer load the colour properties. I've checked the files and the colour info's there. It also does it to the standard P6 hair sets. This started after a crash, so something somewhere must be corrupted. I've trashed my preferences, still no change. Anyone else experienced this problem? or better solved this problem. Thanks.

Overwrite, miniumum install: No Change Delete Poser6 Folder, Full reinstall: No Change I don't understand this at all. I used to load the hair with colour fine, now Root_Color Tip_Color don't load. I have just run some more tests and the values are saved ok, just don't load back in. Ok, more tests. Poser's trying to be clever. I changed the colours and deleted the Noise node. Look in the .pz3 colours set and NO noise node in the whole file. Quit Poser, open Pose,r Load test.pz3 file and the colours are set to black and there's now a Noise Node linked to the Hair Node. What the??? I've just wasted 3 hours and now very confused.

Can you post an image to explain this more. I've noticed that some of the hair doesn't really have much of a sheen to it, but that may just be me. I've only had it for a couple days and really haven't had a lot of time to experiment...

Ok, I loaded the file into P5 and other that the Wrong version and missing Texture message here's what I got. The Colours are in the file and there's no noise node.

There's no noise node in P5 where there should be. I'm just wondering why the colors are different if you loaded the same file. Maybe you should add those colors manually and save as a new file...

This is a problem with ALL the hair, the standard Poser hair and my own created hair. When I load any hair into Poser6, Poser6 overwrites the colors and adds a Noise node if it doesn't have one. This happens to all the Hair Groups. As a test I created a small hair piece, in Poser6, set the extreme colors and removed the noise node. Saved the file, opened in a text editor and confirmed, yes the colors are there and there is NO Noise node. Open in P6... colors get set to black and adds Noise node. Open in P5 (completely different computer) and it opens showing the correct colors and no noise node, as expected. I have completely re installed Poser6 after trashing the previous install and the problem persists. I suspect this is a bug in Poser6 but where can the problem lie? It is very unusual for something to work and then stop working like this. There must be a file somewhere that's not being overwritten.

Have you checked the skull cap?

PapaBlueMarlin ( ) posted Sun, 03 April 2005 at 11:12 PM

Carolly, I don't think the skull cap has anything to do with this :) The specular color is usually really light, like a grey or a tan. For some reason, its loading too dark. I've noticed the P6 hair looking dull to me too, but I haven't bothered with it since I've still been just playing with the lights. I've played a bit with some of the P5 dynamic hair in P6 and it looked fine so it tends to make me wonder what is going on. As far as the noise showing up, its supposed to be there. I had it in P5 when I was using the RDNA hair mats.
